Just letting anyone know that the next round off the Qld offroad race is on the weekend of the 1/2 July being held up at jimna, an hour north of Kilcoy, 2 and a bit from Brisbane. If i can get of work i was thinking of heading up on the Sunday morning leaving Bald Hills, north Brissy around 6 am so should be there by 8ish. any one interested let me know and we can all go up together. Will keep you posted on details and how many cars will be racing
good stuff i might try and get along, but i will be coming from the toowoomba side. keep the info coming sounds great!!
cheers dub
mmmm i think i better put in a leave application.
well i have found out that racing starts on Saturday afternoon with a short course then sunday starts at 8 am with 2 sections of 3 laps each. so it
may pay to leave by 5.30am from the caltex servo at the start of the bruce hwy on Sunday morning.
It is located just before landcruiser park at Jimna. so to get there you head up the Bruce Hwy turn off at Caboolture then head towards Jimna then
turn right at the monument in the main street and follow that for about an hour hit dirt road then look for the red fridge 15min after the start of
the dirt road. turn left and follow all the way
Sounds easy. it is usually a good road so any road car can get there. Let me know if interested and weather you will make your own way there or
follow. we can meet at Caboolture/kilcoy for anyone not in Brisbane.
im going to head up most probobly, i put my leave aplication in today for the dates. but ill be heading down thru the connondales and then turning off on the forestry before kenilworth road going through charlie morland park and up to jimna.
is there anyone else fom toowoomba wanting to go ???
still considering .... hopeful ... but considering.
should be a good weekend!!
I navigated in a Class 5 car there last year, was heaps of fun, but bloody cold sleeping in the Kombi overnight.....it was still minus 2 degrees 7am Sunday morning, and ice everywhere........:thumb
ill probobly be sleeping under a hootchi in a hammock :thumb mmm warmth lol.
Our Kombi is decked out with a Queen sized bed, and I had plenty of blankets......was just Bloody cold.......
r u coming up this year 11cab?
who did you navigate for 11 cab
is the race up in the jimna forestry anyone know?
If you follow the main road into Jimna, you head past the Fire Tower and continue on down the dirt road towards Landcruiser Mountain Park, you will
see a red fridge on the left side of the road marking a driveway, turn down there and follow the road for a few kilometers and you cant miss it.
Apparently it is the same property they used for the Rally Sprints.
I navigated for my bosses son Tait. Class 5 Gemini. We didnt have much luck, broke the car on the recon, and got towed around the prologue
track, managed to repair just in time for the start but because we didnt prologue had to start at the rear of the field. As we were starting the lead
cars were coming through on their second lap which was interesting.....
We got about 2/3 of the way through the first lap and coming out of one of the creek crossing broke the tail shaft....oh well thats racing.
Did I mention it was bloody cold......LOL :thumb
yes it is bloody cold up there. our first year up there the gas in the gas bottle frooze and there was a thick layer of ice in the billy. Had to put
allfoil on the oil cooler to keep the engine warm.
so you naved for young tait. Brave man. So is laurie racing this year
Any one know what gate charge / expences to go and watch? and to be really pushing it where you can source a event timetable?
cheers all. dub.

Jimna has had approx 50mm of rain over the last week so it won’t be too wet up there. - One of the organisers.

dub.
just got back. went up friday. and stayed untill 1pm saturday (only got to see about 2 races) because i have a shift at work tonite at 6.30pm.
wag u said it was the 1st and 2nd so i got the wrong day
off. .......nah no hard feelings it was good fun anyway. i took my baja around the short course with a bloke andy in the passenger seat who races a
little 3 cylinder turbo powered buggy. too bad it was about 11pm and dark as all hell and with mist fogging the window up i could only idle around for
lack of vision.
if anyone is thinking about going for the drive its worth it, saturday is just the short course and they will be doing the long course on sunday.
my mate got some great pics on his digital camera so ill post some up tomorrow nite if i get around to it.
Nick

Anthiron saw your baja .. guessing that you were the bugger who moved all the gravel off the road!!
u mean u saw my baja and didnt even come up for a chat!!!!:o
lol we were the first ones to rock up friday so yeah we copped most of the loose stuff.
i wish i had have been there to see the blue baja race:cry
lol didnt reconise the baja straight off .. mate i was with wanted to sit pat. yeah sry man.
ive rolled all my jimna stuff up into a 40 meg file (3 mins of clips) any suggests to best way to attach :cussing
unless u pay for internet space i doubt u can find a free way to host it. perhaps ask brad if he could host it for you on the manx club space or
something.
i got so many ideas for my baja from that blue one:thumb
the white baja got trashed first lap and didnt return till after racing on a tilt tray.
i reckon 1 out of every 2 heats didnt finish.
all in all good day!
