Quality of aftermarket window winders
rustycamper - July 6th, 2005 at 10:57 AM

Does anyone else here go through heaps of window winders on their bay's? I seem to break 1 or 2 every year. I dont think it is because I do anything abusive to them, they just all seem to be pretty crappy quality. Very plastic and bendy.

Does anyone know where you can get a decent set of aftermarket winders that I wont break so easily?

Cheers

I've just replaced the original winder in my Bay with one I bought through Mick Motors. It's too early to say whether it will last or not, but I did have to modify it to fit the original window channel. I needed to cut a small groove (2mm) in the bottom of the channel for the holes to line up. I may have been unlucky having to do this small mod. Apart from that the quality looks fine, and the feel is good. Time will tell. At least for the moment I don't get wet.

I believe ClassicVW(Pacific) has good quality eupropean (may even be factory VW) ones.
