steff..................

kombibob - July 16th, 2005 at 07:43 PM

crescent head nsw for surfing
for kite surfing port douglas 4 mile beach

DubCrazy - July 16th, 2005 at 07:51 PM

forgot to put... the overseas ones...

Uk senon cove.... not the biggest wave but you can get a long ride from it.... i learnt to surf there so always a fav..

Hayle...... one of the strongest waves in the uk.. can get some of the most perfect sets seen in uk waters there.. always going off... but u have to get it right on the tide....

Ireland... a small place just north of cork.... point, reef and beach breaks... u take your pick one of them is allways good..

Tenerife..... on the north side just past the big ship wreaks near Puerto de la Cruz, stunning reef break, always a good size, strong, and glassy . only down point is on a big wave it sucks up and the reef itself is only about 5 foot under so wiping out can be painfull...

South africa..... a place called mossel bay around that area is some great waves .. u have to hunt them but its worth the time spent looking.. we spend 3 days on the beach about 25ks southwest of there and every day it was near perfect.. in that time saw one small fishing boat and no one else... had the beach all to our selfs... getting a bit harder to find there now as its become more popular but its still possible......

steff....................

in newcastle the reefys off nobbys are the best-pipe,spot 2nds etc..groper is also good with a big south swell, and at the moment theres a good bank at newcastle main beach which is pretty fun.by the way all u surfers on here should invest in a trusty bodyboard haha.ive posted a pic of 2nds..

winerot - July 17th, 2005 at 09:41 AM

yeh its an old hanimex coolite which i still ride
only 1 of a few that still does it gives me a great deal of fun been asked about riding normal boards again but the excitement
not there so i dont.
1 of my best sessions was a couple of years ago at duranbah, i paddle out on this little coolite & you could hear the scoffs dickhead, wanker, cripple, & etc etc.
went straight to the back & sat there with 5 locals sneering & scoffing as well as the other 30 i passed on the way out.
4ft swell i waited till my wave was up about 3ft took off it hugged the rocks all the way in most of the gromets have never seen a coolite & the oldies havent for a while either well that first wave was instant respect they were even giving me waves questions left right & centre hoots & hollering every wave it has to be one of the biggest buzz & bets surfs im not a great surfer but i can hold my own any day even got kicked out of bronte board riders as a teenager first comp made the finals ooohhhh they didnt like that.

byronbus - July 17th, 2005 at 11:00 AM

Ok, a couple of secret spots, but they are top secret, cant tell anyone...

Broken Head, south of Byron
Whites Beach in the National Park south of Byron (there are several nice breaks in the national park, just watch the dodgy man bits, especially at kings)
Nth 7 Mile, also access via the national park

My fav secret spot is Tallows Beach, the rivermouth...dont tell a soul

Oh and lately Belongil just north of byron has been going off...no one thinks to go there, so never crowded (until now - dont tell others)...

Around Byron you can surf almost everyday if you have a shortboard and a longboard...the early almost always consists of a paddle at wategoes or little wategoes, the other morning there were 5 of us (all mates, so party waves were everywhere) and at least 50 dolphins, what a way to start the day...

byronbus - July 17th, 2005 at 11:01 AM

In saying that, its never worth leaving the gold coast or sydney to come surfing here in Byron, the answer will always be "you should have been here yesterday"

pi22api22a - July 17th, 2005 at 12:55 PM

Not telling you my Fav spot in NSW,, but best one I found was (promise not to tell anyone)..
around 200nm off Cairns in the Coral Sea.. clean 3-4ft,, not a single person in sight (few sharks),, not a landmark in sight either...and me the only one out... ahhh bliss

dave

ps. no I won't divulge the GPS coordinates.. afraid it will get crowded!!

VWMA Editor - July 17th, 2005 at 02:41 PM

Currumbin Alley, Qld. Gets a little crowded, though.

field - July 17th, 2005 at 02:51 PM

i gave you guys a hint with the spit fire banks, gets big, an only breaks in really big swells very hard wave to find mostly do a bit of tow in there. Two years ago i surfed skirmish point and a another spot( i won't name) 3 days straight last time i surfed skirmish was in 1988 it takes big cyclone swell and a howling nth east biggest i've seen it was3-4 ft nice peaky lefts

frenzix - July 17th, 2005 at 03:42 PM

haha Belongil, that's a gay beach isn't it? not that i know that.

Muzza72 - July 17th, 2005 at 04:22 PM

deewhy point when its over 5 foot tends to thin out the numbers

its63b - July 17th, 2005 at 07:15 PM

another good secret spot for you guys up nth is called "the well" jsut north of coffs, right near sapphire, good heavy reef and no other people out other than mates, good times, get pretty hectic over 4' tho,i wouldnt suggest surfers to go there, big drops and shallow reefs and surfboards...
