are the new indicator lens's for 75 kombi's as good or better than the originals , they have lasted 27yrs so far , but look like they are ready to self destruct.
I suppose there are good & dodgey makes ,do they make german originals still[he lol] what and where are the good ones.

I've found the same thing. Cheap lenses look great when they're new, but they soon start to lose their bright orange lustre within months.

There are a couple of ways to tell cheap shitty lenses from quality ones.

Price is not such a good guide. German ones WILL be dear - expect to pay $50 each at least. But some sellers might try charging you that for shit ones, and get away with it.

Good VW sellers can still provide you with genuine Hella lenses - you will see the Hella insignia cast into the plastic. It should also have 'Germany' somewhere on it too.

Genuine lenses are also made in separate left and right hand versions. Think about it - the lenses are the same shape, but you would have to turn a left one upside down to fit it on the right. That's exactly what the cheap ones do. Good ones will have a small 'L' and 'R' moulded into them.

Good luck - i will be buying some more myself soon I think!

I noticed that one rear reflector on the wifes kombi seemed a bit dull, I was scratching my head " didnt I just replace that tail light last year ?"
Now I know why thanks dudes.
