The_Bronze. - March 16th, 2003 at 12:13 AM

:bounce Alright Dubber Heads :bounce

Thing is there seems to be a lot of people going to the Nats and Bug-in but Sydney is a big place with lots to do.

Is there a cruise, dubbers meet, dinner, drinks, supper goin on at all for us all to get together somewhere on the Saturday night?

Daves said we can roll up to the Show and shine area Sat evening for a hi, how ya goin and there are a few staying at Pentrith Panthers but is there anything planned for the Satruday night where we can all get together.

Post your intentions here and favourite haunts that we can meet at, at a certian time.

Cheers.

PS - U2U each other our mobile numbers too so we can text and ring to see if another dubber is nearby on the day.

BenettonVW - March 16th, 2003 at 10:19 AM

Yeah, we are some of the people staying at Panthers..

I am definitely interested in doing something. Either a meeting spot or something. I dunno whether there is any plans from this end either.. I guess we'll soon know.

OvalGlen - March 16th, 2003 at 02:32 PM

goin searching for the impromtu drags..............Nah just Joking.
I'd love to meet up with a group from the Forum.
I'm not flush with ideas but will give it some thought.
I'll ask Mike if would like a gathering at his workshop which is nearby.

penguin - March 16th, 2003 at 07:40 PM

Count me in,
although I still won't have the car up and going (bloody work, if it wasn't the need for money I wouldn't do any of it!!)
As I live about five mintues from Panthers, I'll be in almost anything (bare certain activities involving alcohol, removal of clothes, shaving, and use of paint... )but apart from that, anything :P

Quickbug - March 16th, 2003 at 08:44 PM

Lol the Cumberland Hwy or 'Orange Grove' is one of the meet points.

Appin road is one place.
There are tons of places.
Lots of cops out though, they all know where most of the spots are...

Penrith Panthers is a gigantic leagues club on the far western outskirts of Sydney, some 50km west of the CBD. Like something out of Las Vegas - more poker machines than you can count.

Most of us Club Veedub Sydney people will be at Fairfield Showground on Easter Saturday night, setting up the VW Nationals, putting up banners, laying out tables, organising equipment and so on. We will be there from about 7pm. Everyone is welcome to come and join us. The work doesn't take long, and we can then sit around with beer and pizza the rest of the night. Many of us are camping there in fact - I know I am.

Fairfield Showground is on Smithfield Road at Prariewood, with the entrance just opposite Richards Rd. See you there!

OvalGlen - March 18th, 2003 at 06:15 PM

OK , here's one option :
A Local VW Shop near Penrith Panthers is putting on a BBQ.
There will be numerous Volksy show cars there being cleaned / preped for show.
There will be VW shop open to check out.
There will be an awesome VW Project shown to those attending , that
wont be relealed to public until later.
There will be Heaps of VW chat time.
You will need to bring meat and Drink, I'll bring Salad if can get idea of numbers.
-
You will need to cruise from Penrith Panthers Club with me (Oval) about 7 mins drive. - its not an open to public affair.

kombi_kid - March 18th, 2003 at 08:01 PM

be warned if the pizza and beer gets involved and you ARE staying bring a gas mask geez christ DAVE U STINK!!!!!

Well, I'll be trying to get my four year old to sleep after spending a day (probably at the royal easter show) with his cousins before hopefully managing to get him up and organised to get out to the vw show the next day.
Hopefully will be able to catch up with a few of you guys and put faces to names on Sunday.:bounce

vw54 - March 19th, 2003 at 07:21 AM

The_Bronze. - March 19th, 2003 at 07:11 PM

Hey I'm willing to go with the flow. If 20 different people are doing 20 different things then thats not much use. At this stage I'll probably call around panthers if anyone can meet me, then go to the BBQ at the workshop. I rather leave to Show till Sunday and enjoy it in all it's glory when I walk in.

Then again if the bulk of Aussieveedubber are there then thats where I'll be and move on to somewhere else after. Whatever works out the best way to catch up with you all in the short time I'll be there?

Either way - Look for the Dog-O-War and I'll put my mobile number on a piece of paper on the passenger side 1/4 glass.

kombi_kid - March 20th, 2003 at 06:30 AM

might just have an early night and get up bright an early to get the good parts!!!

vw54 - March 20th, 2003 at 06:36 AM

EArly to the Nats is Early to the Parts.

OvalGlen - March 22nd, 2003 at 12:57 AM

Another option...Or anyone for a cruise from Penrith Panthers through couple of suburbs , maybe Parramatta and just Chat over some fast food.

silver - March 22nd, 2003 at 01:03 PM

I was thinking a cruise circuit could be mapped out, taking in some of the places mentioned then you could say join at fairfield and stop at parra where maybe someone else is joining for a while ect ect, after all, vee dubs are mobile, and this cruise therefore need not be so ridgid, I for one would like to include olympic park in the cruise it is very central and is a cool venue to cruise through

1303Steve - March 22nd, 2003 at 08:24 PM

We could always run a few VW movies Saturday night at Fairfield after we set up, 4 good things to do,
1/ Talk VWs with VW people
2/ Drink beer with VW people
3/ Eat pizza with VW people

Bloody hell.... just realised that night is my dirty thirtieth!

Guess I'm up for some serious drinking the night before the nats...

I liked Glen's idea re the BBQ/drinks/chat at the workshop in Peachtree/Penrith! That one gets my vote.... heaps of room at the workshop and great people there!

Matt

Well in that case I might just go to both and join a cruise if one happens. What time does the swap meet kick off. Is it about 7 or is it generally earlier?

jenz58 - March 31st, 2003 at 09:00 AM

So early:o

Jay and I don't arrive in Sydney until 7.30:(

Hope there's some buys left by the time we get there:bounce
