Hey all,
1. Whats the best way of bringing up the VIN number on the chassis I have so I can read it properly?
2. How can I check my chassis history? I mean, check its not stolen or owing and money etc etc. I want to find this out before I start spending big
money on it!
Cheers all.
Hi Gibbo. There are two ways to get the number easy to see. Sand back all of the area around the number to the undercoat or bare metal. That leaves
the paint in the number in black. That can be scraped out of the grooves and the whole then given a thin coat of paint to repair the damage and keep
the number visible. Or scrape the numbers clear of paint, fill them with white paint, wipe off the excess and leave the number highlighted in
white.
It's always a good idea to highlight the engine and chassis numbers in white paint before you take a car to rego. The inspector will love you for
making a messy and difficult job easy.
One of the checks thet you need to make is to contact the Register of Encumbered Vehicles (REVS) in your state. It's usually run by the transport
department. Richard.
Thanks mate, I will chase that up on monday, top man.
Cheers!
