Does anybody know what the Kübelwagen was/is called in Oz?
The Seppo's call them 'The Thing' and I wondered if we had a name for them.
Hey Softop, I believe the technical aussie term for 'the Thing' is 'the Thing'. Of course, not to be confused with the Country Buggy.....
You coming around to those thongs yet?

And it starts......
Softop, you sorted that box of nuts and bolts out yet?
In the meantime, everyone else feel free to jump in with details on 'Things' here in Oz...
It may start but does it go -y'know clutch thingies an' stuff- and have you bribed your local RTA enough to register it yet?
I dont mind the nuts & bolts left over so much but it's the nuts & bolts that are NOT in the box that bothers me!
kubelwagens, things, and country buggies are all very different cars.
thats what i thought, kubels are the military things, brother of the schwimmwagen i think, the county buggy is a very crude aussie body on a bug pan, not many round i think, and the 181 is the "thing" common in lotsa movies, and in the usa
also thesambe has pics of em all i believe, "phatvw" on here is a country buggy 2 my knowledge, but im no expert on them
this is a kubelwagen

this is a thing

and this is a country buggy

Thanks guys.
Anthiron, the pics are just what I needed. On another newsgroup the seppo's kept mentioning the Thing, when asked what a Thing was they said it was a
kubelwagen... twas bloody confusing!!
no probs
ther 3 very different vehicles and come with 3 very different prices as well.
