'Summer City' 1977
Starring Mel Gibson as 'Scallop',
Co-starring Steve Bisley, aka 'The Biz',
Guest starring Abigail.
Not a heap of surfing.
But they were always heading for the beach.
In an old heap with 'NRNR' scrawled across the boot, if I recall correctly.
Most of the surfing scenes were 'solarised' to disguise the fact that stunt surfers were used.
Of course, there's always 'Crystal Voyager"

CRYSTAL VOYAGER,
Greenough and Nat TRIPPING!

Greenough,

" I built the coup after a dream i had one night, I was on and island and people from outer space visited me there. I got to the island in a covered runabout like a car , It was comfortable and seemed like a good idea so i built the coup"

Well I remember the conditions back then so I can undersatand it.
Mitchell

Look out for a video that was a freebie with one of those surf mags years ago called Seven Days, Seven Slaves. See Jake The Snake pull in and crack a Bintang while in the tube. The 45minute video has some totally awesome shit in it.

That was filmed at Catherine Hill Bay at the top end of the Central Coast.

Check out switch-foot.com if you are into retro surfing and indeed surfing at all.
The creator is a friend of mine who has published a book on the subject with interviews with Greenough, McTavish, MR etc etc. It is a great read.

Absolutely Big Wednesday.

I've also got Hawaii 9-0 through to 9-5 hidden away somewhere.
Morning of the earth, Northshore.
Bud Brown's surfing the 50's is cool too.

Love the old Gidget movies too.

And the episode of 'Batman', where Batman and the Joker have a surfing competition.
They pull boardshorts over their costumes and do the most fake surfing scene ever! With liberal use of 'bat shark-repellent spray'.

"those hooded hodads!" (the Joker, to a henchman)
