WA DoVW feedback on the feedback
shaihulud - December 23rd, 2005 at 11:27 AM

Thank you to all of you who responded to my request for feedback about the recent DoVW at G O Edwards Park.

We discussed it and we have agreed that we may stay at G O Edwards Park for a while, but Charles Patterson Park is free and we would really like to go back to the Esplanade foreshore in Fremantle, (we wish), so the venue is up in the air.

This year the date was a problem, so next year it may be held earlier.

We agree that entertainment is necessary so we will consider the following.

Rocker cover race.
Bouncy castle.
Car push. A test of strength.
Blindfolded driver obstacle course. A passenger gives instructions.
Teeter totter ,which is a ramp with a central hinge on which you must balance your car. Only if someone makes one or if we can borrow/hire one.
Engine blow. That's a big insurance problem.
Pictures with you and the car of your choice, printed out then and there.
Your suggestions.

All of the above suggestions require volunteers to run them. The DoVW committee is already busy enough, so if you want this stuff please volunteer to run it. We are happy to form an Activities Sub-committee.

Coffee van.

Music.
The problem with music is that one person's music is another's noise. As long as people are willing to play their own music, quietly, on their car radios/stereos that should solve that.

More talking on the PA. We are sure that you don't want someone talking at you all day, so that is not likely to occur.

Cars closer to the gazebo. We didn't take full advantage of the surrounds of the lake, so we will arrange them better next year.

Earlier presentations. The problem is that people would leave if they were too early. More entertainment may solve that.

Splitty Day. That is a possibility only if we form a Splitty Sub-committee, so if you splitty owners want that, volunteer to run all aspects of it.

Cruise afterwards. That's a good idea, but by the end of the show we are tired and frazzled and all we want to do is pack up and go home, so again that would need to be run by a Cruise Sub-committee, so volunteer.

I hope that you will help us to make next year's DoVW better by volunteering your time and expertise.

Please contact the club on secretary@vwclub.asn.au or phone Richard on 9342 8703.

regarding music, keep it german and kitch, then nobody would like it :)

Hiring an oompapa leiderhosen (sp?) type quartet slapping each other around different parts of the arena would be great!

uuuhhhmmmmmm..... Too Late.. Sorry, but.. there was way too much of what sounded like someone dragging a fork down the side of an empty milk bottle already...
Me thinks I discovered WHY no one was parked near the gazebo...
(whispering)"please give somoene else the microphone next year Richrd"(whispering);)

The cruise was suggested to me by one of our sponsors.

I'm keen to help get it off the ground. We could photocopy off the instructions for the cruise and give it to the entrants as they come in.

If you want to know how annoying the P.A. can be when the same voice is heard all day repeating the same things over and over, ask some one who went to the Victorian DOVW.
the day was great, the PA was a headache

Feedback.

sleepy. An oompah band is not such a silly idea, for a while anyway. I promise NO bagpipes or as they are called in German doodlesacks.

Daniel. That's not why we put the cars away from the gazebo, but I suppose it was a happy accident.

Mark. Thanks for the offer. Please contact us later in the year.

Lobus. Note that I said talking at you, not to you. Yes, we know how irritating a non stop commentary can be. It won't happen if I can help it.

Laze and Gems. Keep the feedback coming.

Another suggestion (from another entrant this year) is to bring along a Beetle body for the kids (or big kids) to paint. I already have access to a potential donor vehicle!
