Hmmmmmmmm, been watching the storms form and join all afternoon. Here is a copy of the Storm warning issued at 8.25pm
For people in parts of the
Southeast Coast,
Wide Bay & Burnett and
Eastern Darling Downs & Granite Belt Forecast Districts.
Issued at 8:27 PM Wednesday, 4 January 2006.
At 8:25 PM , Bureau of Meteorology weather radar detected severe thunderstorms near Blackbutt, Boonah, Beaudesert, Laidley, Gatton and Esk These
thunderstorms are moving towards the east. Severe thunderstorms are forecast to affect Ipswich, and the area south of Kingaroy by 8:55 PM and
Coolangatta, Logan City, Kingaroy, Beenleigh and Brisbane CBD by 9:25 PM .
Damaging winds and very heavy rainfall are possible.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES in your local government area, listed in the White Pages under either State Emergency Service or your local
council.
The next warning is due to be issued by 9:25 PM.
This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at http://www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate this warning being
broadcast regularly.

Yep ,same here in Moorooka.
Thunder was like a tank battle, I havent heard it like that before!
Kept us awake for about two hours last night, sooo tired....
I totally understand.................the lightening was going off on all 4 sides of the house with 3 - 4 seconds between each flash............you then sat waiting for the humungus claps of thunder straight after each other. I absolutely looovovvvee storms, but last nights was awesome!!!!!!!!
alls i got was a light and sound show, sfa rain, was good enuf 2 go sit out in it, was nice and cool after a stinker of a hot day 2, this better have rain, oh yeh i seen a power box blow up after lightining struck it about 100m away from me! hot damn that was cool, hardly any others struck the ground, most was just thru the clouds out my way

i was up all night trying to calm my dog down she freaks out at the slightest sound of thunder.

The toughest dogs are the biggest sooks................my 2 Rottis were the same..........storms and fireworks reduced them to snivelling messes

I have a Red Cattle dog and a jack Russell.
Cattle dog always freaks, poor girl. The JR is usually a bit tougher, but last night she was v frightened.
wind pickin up @ my place now, starting 2 rain!, just heard a rumble now aswell

still, welcome back to real queensland weather (stinking hot all day, ridiculously stormy/rainy all night) its been a while since we have seen it
im so glad its back to normal!
my little tenterfield terrier doesnt give 2 hoots about storms, no matter how big(and you get some pretty massive ones in nambour where he lives).
he just picks up his ball and falls asleep on the couch.
just wide spread rain, makes up for the lack of last night, love the smell of rain:thumb
We haven't had anything up here-bit lucky really as I drive to and from work in the buggy and the roof is sitting in the garage:duh
Ah yeah, Queensland, perfect one day, pissin down the next.
