I've been working on my toys now for close to 12 years.
Most times I buy genuine parts, or at least try to.
If it don't say VW, it says bosch.
Today I buy a coil for my kombi.
It says Bosch
THEN IT SAYS MADE IN JAPAN!!!
Since when??????
dont know your answer spook but just be glad its made there then in taiwan or China!!!
cheers
rhys
That aint the point.
Nothing Japanese goes into my truck other than my bike.......:cussing
SHOOT the coil
Hey Spook u comming down at Easter... or do u have a roster for the 64 wheeler ????
I got a wedding to go to on the Saturday, & it's MY anniversary.
I'll try to get there on the Sunday, with my boys in tow.
So long as no one minds me lobbing in the HQ.......
Spook , I hope you have looked for a different make of bike - that is appalling.
Italian bikes are far better.
Just a touch more expensive though
A few years ago, a bloke I know who rides with the Gladiators, tried to extol the virtues of Harleys to me.
I'll tell you what I told him.
I bought my little GS brand new in 1978.
It's never been raced, never been dropped, & never had anyone else at the controls.
I've had to walk home ONCE through mechanical failure, in 25 years.
(running out of fuel is human error)
You find me a bike more reliable & I'll buy it.
But I won't hold my breath while your looking.......
You can leave the HQ in the car park ... no problems make sure u catch up with me.
Have a close look at a Bosch spark plug.
"made in India"
I put a set in Helbus, got a misfire after 1000km, and it turned out to be a dud plug!
NGK for me now.
...and NGK is made where? Japan is not a bad place for something to be made, but I find it interesting for a bosch part to be made there. In my line
of work, Germany is still known as the place where the best stuff is made, but it's bloody expensive - a well-known dutch firm has had it's
machines built in Spain for quite a while now, and they're still the best in their field. It's a changing world...
I'm surprised to hear of a bosch part made in India, however, if you write to bosch you'll probably find they'll replace your faulty
plugs (probably with some made elsewhere in the world - major companies have been doing this kind of outsourcing for quite a while, but usually have a
number of facilities around the world.) I'm not trying to knock India, they are masters at ingenuity, but their manufacturing standards often
leave a lot to be desired. As far as I know, NGK only use inferior 3rd-world asian factories for their plugs (plugs for racing are vetted.)
(excuse the edit, but I hate misspelling - even mine.)

So, it's not bad enough that I got a genuine "Heinz- 57 different varieties" kombi.
One body, doors off a different one , motor from a 3rd, gearbox from a 4th, right down the line to type 3 control arms on the steering!!!
Now the old girl is multicultural as well....
Bloody winger.
Even the Oka - Australia's only homemade vehicle was supposed to be 100% Australian but unfortunately couldn't find a local manufacturer for
a 5 dollar circuit - Guess where it comes from?
Whatever happened to the OKA??
