Classic Adeleide on TV
shiftyvw - January 29th, 2006 at 01:09 PM

Did anyone else see the coverage of the classic adeleide rally on channel 10 today? There was a great bit of footoage from a really quick brock commodore car trying to get past a "pesky green VW" (commentators words!)

Loved the co drivers attempt at calming the driver down "dont worry, its going to blow up soon anyway"

was it debiasi's car?

There was 3 beetles in the Adelaide Classic and the green one belongs to Adam Debiasi, co-driver Dean Hoskins.
I visited SA when this was on, great week.
There was also a silver Karmann Ghia but I think that blew up??.

The commodore was definatly a much faster car, he ended up in the top 5 i think.

pretty sure that was Adams Car... he luvs green paint

vwtyp2 - January 30th, 2006 at 07:39 AM

there was two green beetles.
one is Adam's, the other was an inter-stater.
adam's car for the classic was NA
the silver karmann of Renee Felkl didn't blow up, it crashed.

yes that is my green beetle with Dean hosking as co driver, we shared the driving and costs to make it affordable to compete- its powered by a weber fed 2332 with 150hp at the wheels, close gearbox ,big brakes ,cage etc.i thought the comments were a bit harsh- the crapadore has mega dollar engine(450hp at wheels) and he lives on that road the longest stage of the event "porsches el cheapo cousin" from the comentator, we were faster than 95% of the porsches- but you get used to that racing vws
there were 2 other beetles and a kg in the event
renee felke in the kg broke his berg 5speed rebuilt his box overnight then a holden crashed in front of him oiling the road he hit the oil and went in to a wall
ben seehusen in a 2442cc white beetle from nsw was going well but missed a stage when he clipped a wall
paul zalkauskas from adelaide greybeetle 1916cc did very well (a motor borrowed from me- my old turbo motor with some webers thrown on the night before)
it was the best fun of my life the entry is already in for next year, all other racing seems so boring now

Well done Adam-looks like he's a loud mouth prick anyway-later in the telecast he was mouthing off at somebody else for holding him up.I didn't notice any of the other "Gentlemen" drivers carrying on like him on the incar cameras.Did you get a special delivery from me today??
