Hi fellow aussieveedubbers,
just like to find out the amount of pre 79 volkswagens killed by forum members.
After you have posted, please make a reply to the year, colour, model and what happened to the car below.
This should be good poll hopefully if this works.
Cheers Will.
Ps. i am doing this so hopefuly people can maybe try to save some more volkswagens than whats happening at the moment.

Guess I'd be over 100.
i think i balance out as i saved one and destroyed 1
One, a 68 semi auto to get the ball joint front with the big disc brakes and the IRS rear with the big drum brakes to get a pan to shorten for my Manx
SR.
Two, a 73 beetle to get the gearbox and other parts that were missing from the first one.
I don't feel guilty because both were either stripped or wrecks and I am rebirthing them as a rare classic car.
heaps..................:beer
To Many...... but it was for the greater good "honest" :P :thumb
So statistics tell us... if you bust up 3 dubs.... you're hooked and will bust up a dozen or more.
Just one.
I found that if you chop up your beetle into small enough pieces, you can fit it inside a kombi to take to SIMS metal!
hehehehehe...
cut cut cut!
I have artistically sculptured about 12 into buggies. And sacrificed a few to the gods. I still have 5 Beetles; 1 Baja, 1 with tree damage,1 oval
Rat,1 resto cal oval and my Parents restored 68 auto.
I have buired 2 (64,68) burnt 1(63) ,seen 1 (superbug)be hailed to death, seen (anothersuper) tipped over by a drunk party,Another Super was rolled
over by a P plater, saw 3 (type 3s) rust away to nothing cause the dude was going to "fix em up one day".And know of 10 buggies made from
Beetles. These are "bush Buggies" an I have seen heaps of them lying in paddocks an farmers sheds. So i think the years have definetly taken the
beetle numbers down.
Some buggies Ive come across still have the cast generator stand on them!36-40 horse motors!
I know of 1 such buggie that still runs! These "buggies also have been the demise of a lot of split kombis being robbed of thier motors and reduction
hubs.
2, but one of those 2 has been saved and is being restored by someone else, so i soppose that one doesnt really count does it?
3 chopped up beetles in the back yard at the moment
but have" saved" many more than that
burn baby burn
burn
this thread makes me :cry
phh call that burning?
Jeremy... how could you!!????
That is painful to my eyes!!!! :cry:puke
ive cut up a few 2 save others the cars are at that age were this has 2 happen now wich is sad but life must go on
Zero! And I don't plan to either.
5 with 3 last weekend..................2 beetles and 3 type 3's..........The type 3 parts are all under the house (stacked neatly and ready for use)
and used parts to build our (now daughters) car. The beetles are making kind donations to rebuiding a country buggy and excess bits are also under
the house.........................anyone need late Type 3 or early and late beetle bits?
Kathy
2 - 1 white Baja that was so rusty that I didn't have to remove the bolts from the floor/sills to remove the body (it was being held together by bog
and chicken wire!) :duh
1 Blue '63 Splitty panelvan (with home made camper conversion). It had been hit in the side by a bus in the mid '80's then parked under a tree and
allowed to fill up with leaves and water for the next 15 - 20 years - it was cut up for parts as almost everything was bent or rusted. The gearbox is
still doing service in a splitty somewhere out there!

Well I,ve seen the death of two volkswagens,
1. My first car was a '63 beetle, an old guy that shouldn't be driving didn't give way to me and I T-boned him with my beetle (must say his car
came off worst) my poor 'ol beetle ended up a foot shorter than it was.
2. the second was my kombi, I fell asleep at the wheel coming home after a 15hr night shift, I left the highway doing 100kph, hit two trees and rolled
down a 3 metre drain finally coming to a stop against a third tree upside down.
Needless to say I still can't part with either of these vechicles, they both are still in my back yard, the interior of the kombi is being
transferred to another, and the beetle still holds a strong place in my heart, so it won't be parted out.
Only one but sadly, after seeing "Kombikim's" 54 oval, I wish that I hadn't done that deed back in 1968!

My dad has cut up a 69 and a 58 which had the roof cut off. Both against my own opion.
I spose if one can save a rare old dak, dak, It could be a good cause
Both were beyond repair.
Keep putting in your votes peoples.
My good green one has been built from about 6 beetles.
Various parts such as seats, bumpers, mudguards etc.
The last two wrecks are seen here.
My sister made up this dodgy banner thing around it so ignore that.
Looking at my green bug at the bottom, do you think it was worth it???

Lots.
It's not so much how many I've cut up that upsets people, but what they were.
A 58 kombi, a 59 double door kombi, a 56 beetle, 3 x 59 beetles, 2 x 60 beetles.
Then the sundries, probably a half dozen later beetles, 2 bay kombis, a bay single cab & an early type 3 wagon.
Hell.
Does anyone have anypics of them before and after they were crashed?
