Melbourne Servicing Recommendations
Elliot - February 1st, 2006 at 07:06 AM

Hi everyone

I was wondering if people could pass on their servicing recommendations to me with regard to servicing in Melbourne.

I have recently moved here after living and purchasing a Golf 4 in Queensland 3 years ago. We have had the worst service from VW that we have ever experienced. While I cant claim that our golf has gone up in smoke, it is small wonder that it hasn't, given the monkeys we have had to deal with.

We are hoping that Vic will be an improvement in the case of servicing as it has been the best move we have made in every other respect.

We have found VW Australia extremely unhelpful and unresponsive to our problems. The joke of it is that one of the VW dealers that we used to use was awarded Dealership/Service Agent of the year by VW Australia after we and many others had raised concerns with VW Australia about their performance.
They had a real reputation for being shoddy... if only we had known beforehand... You would turn up for servicing and end up exchanging horror stories with other VW owners who were in the same boat.

Anyway... we were thinking of trying to find a small specialist service agent who is really good. This is due to the belief that every dealer service department we have had so far has cut corners and undertaken substandard work in order to maximise profits.

Any advice you may be able to offer would be gratefully received.

Cheers Elliot

Depending on where your are located:

• Lloyd Davies at Volkwerke in Greensborough specialises in late Volkswagen models

• John Goodison at Volkshome in Thomastown also does late model stuff

• Dean Coutes at Volkspower in Burwood

Thanks. I am located in Collingwood but will drive if the service is worth it.

I am really keen to find a place that has the emphasis on doing everything properly without cutting corners (I know this is possible as I have had good service agents before).

Thanks to a VW service department in Brisbane I will have a hefty bill next time my brakes are done because they cut corners during the service and didn't skim my rotors etc.

Im hoping that with a recommendation I can avoid these sorts of hassles.

Thanks Elliot

I take my neew beetle cabrio to Werribee VW (bought it there and have always serviced it, never had a problem)

I take my oval beetle to John Goodison in Thomastown, again never had a problem

Excellent thanks for the replies.

I dont trust dealerships anymore unfortunately.

I will probably try Volkspower first since they are the closest. However if that doesnt work out I might take a spin to Thomastown... afterall drivings fun:-)

Cheers Elliot

Have heard Volkshome are good. :D

Volkspower is a bit of a hike from you though, they're in Burwood.
