i have some 15 inch stock 4.5 inch rims to go on the front of my baja fresh from the powdercoater.
i will be buying tyres for them on wednesday.
im running 31/10.5 r15 on the rear and want something tall so it looks a bit more even than atthe moment and to improve my approach angle.
the only tyre i have found on the net that seems suitable is a bridgestone dueller H/T D684 195/80 r15
but im pretty sure its going to be hard to locate them at a dealer.
how tall in cms or inches or whatever overal would that tyre be?
what are u running?
i dont want to go bigger than 195 on the front which restricts things i know.
Nick
Unfortunately 4.5 inch rim will limit you to what you can use....most guys will be running a 6 or 7inch rim with a 205/75R15 or a 235/75R15
i dont want a wider tyre though i know that i could get a taller tyre with a wider tyre but i dont want to go bigger than 195. i had rubbing issues with 205's in the past
Here is a rough formula for the theoretical tyre overall diameter (OD) in mm:
(0.80 x 195 x 2) + (15 x 25.4) = OD (diameter ) of tire in mm
where, in this example 0.80 = 80% profile, 195 is tyre section width, & 15 is rim diam. in inches,
so the OD is 693mm (or divide by 25.4 to get 27.3 inch) in the above case. Diameters worked out this way will be close to those in tyre catalogs.
The true rolling diameter might be slightly less under load.
thanks for that info
U2U Desert Moose and ask him what size tyres he uses on the front of his buggies. They are very tall.
i have just put some 165/15's on empi 5's (5.5" wide)
ok kmart tyre and auto have found me a 195/80 r15 tyre its 20/80% all terrain. and about 140 bucks each. forgot what brand he said though wasnt one i was familliar with. it was either that or he had another for about $175 each for the same % tread pattern.
