price question
Muzza72 - February 3rd, 2006 at 07:14 PM

i came across a 1958 single cab ute in good original condition, minimal rust, 10 months rego, body work is good with just a couple of small dents, as is its a perfect rat to run around in or a very easy resto. my question is whats a reasonable price for something like this

Depends on the owner, he might think it is worth what they are paying in England and want about $10K-15K

Or it might be worth only $1K, they all need the rust doing, so get it for as cheap as you can.
There was a guy from Adelaide selling a ute, ex-PMG he only wanted $850.

What is the seller asking for it?

i am trying to locate the owner i found the ute in a large car yard but no one there can tell me where it came from and depending on who you talk to the story changes its been there 2 to 3 days one story i got was that it was traded and it was going to the wreckers but this was denied by the manager so i have left mesages and hope someone will get back to me i have the rego i dont know if i can find the owner that way,i somehow think privacy laws will prevent me doing that

I would think that if it's in a car yard then it's the managers responsibility to know who owns the car because it's in his car yard.
If anything he should have all the papers and be able to tell you who owns it or he should be able to sell it to you. Otherwise why would it be there if they aren't trying to sell it.
Problem is if you try too hard they'll know your keen and jack up the price, but if you don't push for the sale someone else will just walk in and pick it up for peanuts... It's like a catch 22 you know...

Hope your able to get a good price for the ute, really hoping that it doesn't end up in the wreckers.

Let us know if you end up getting the ute.

I reckon it's worth going up to the guy with $500 cash and making an offer. You never know your luck, they can only say no.
