I've seen a few people mention they're planing long trips up and down the coast, and around Oz for extended periods.
I too am planning to go around Oz in my ’77 bus next year, hopefully for 6-12 months.
So who is going where and when?? Might be able to catch up with fellow travellers, or if your in Brissy and need a driveway to park in, mines
open!!

YOU ARE GOING AFTER MOST OF US! do you want a detailed list of where we finally had to abandon our vehicles in Central Aust. (you know, like the food
dumps the early explorers used)
I'll be in Nambucca Heads in August!!! :thumb:thumb:thumb
I too am planning a trip, not until the beginning of 2005 tho, after Yr12. plan on a 12 month round Australia epic, main reason i bought the kombi
Nambucca for us in August You won't miss our yellow butterbox
pulling a cmaping trailer behind it (oh yeah, I should post some pics of that recent aquisition shouldn't I....).
we will be heading up the towards townsville or cairns in the middle of may. taking our time to see a few sites along the way. doing it in our '74 micro bus now with a new tent that joins on the back of the van ($60 bargain). if we cross paths we'll have to grab one of these:beer
Rozrob! tell me more about the new tent that fits on the back, we would very much like something lke this for only $60

Our tentative plan is to leave Brissy ~Jan next year and do an anti clockwise trip. We also hope to survive 12 months camping and picking up odd jobs
if needed.
Andy and the camping gear have had a few seriuos test runs, and a few more planned before we leave.
We did ~6000km in Jan on a trip to Adelaide and back taking in the Flinders and a few other sights along the way. 2 1/2 week round trip.
If all goes to plan, my current motor and GB and a spare of each will be re-built by then. That's besides the spare I will carry with me.
Just need to organise the interior a little better, it's still an 8 seater at the moment and get some awnings made.
Hope to catch you on the road some day!!
Did I hear right you are taking a spare motor with you? weird
the tent we picked up at a garage sale, it belonged to an old couple who had done a bit of traveling round aus but it looked like it had been used a 2
or 3 times. the tent is a square jacaroo tent (hard to explain but will attach pix when we put it up next), it has a tunnel which fits onto the back
hatch of the van and is tightened with velcro. it looks like the tunnel has been added on by a canvas maker, and when it is on its a big living
space.

No No No, the spare motor and GB are mainly for future use, but will live with my brother on the trip. IF a disaster happens I don’t have to worry
about doing a re-build in the middle of no ware using people I don’t trust, just freight a complete motor and slip it in. :thumb
Mind you it would be cool to have the back end of a Kombi as a trailer and leave the motor and GB in place. Could use the spare to drive a generator
to have all the power you need.
