Well
I like him, he dose his own thing and he seems to be reasonably down to earth. And the kombi looks great too. Good on him!

Fred Bloggs - February 15th, 2006 at 09:18 PM

It hasnt got a Porsche 3.6 in it it is a type 4 from a 914, so is still a 4 cylinder with a porsche fan kit.
Built by Terry from Terry's beetle services.

wasn't on cable, it was on channel ten. i recorded it to watch later.
we were watching beyond tomorrow, which was showing new gadgets at a big gadget show in vegas. There was a brief clip a fully teched up bug, I'm searching for a pic online now.

GASBNR - February 15th, 2006 at 10:09 PM

That stove is a gaggennaeu,

Read very expensive just for a 2 burner.

How I would love to drive round Italy in a Split,

And I'm a Chef!!

squizy - February 15th, 2006 at 10:19 PM

Yeah it didn't sound like a flat 6. Could believe he'd put oil in through the breather - and was wondering why she was smoking. Explains why he's such a great cook, and not a mechanic. :thumb

crewcabconnection - February 15th, 2006 at 10:24 PM

wont all those windows let too much sun in and send the food bad. At least Geezers grown out of his 'Quadraphenia' mod phase. Love that sliding rear drawer...

i bet hes going to regret selling that van when the little ones get older...

winerot - February 16th, 2006 at 07:55 AM

good on him

Fossil - February 16th, 2006 at 08:24 AM

Damn well missed it coz the missus wanted to watch something else - oh well that's life but next week will be a different story.
Amazing how he chooses to drive the Samba

kingroon - February 16th, 2006 at 08:59 AM

Yeah I reckon he's a solid bloke really. It seems that anyone who sticks their neck out in the UK gets a slap in the face from the populus, but it's not as if he hasn't made a difference for the better. The School Dinners mission he set himself, the Fifteen project and all this whilst he's starting a family, not bad going..

During my UK days, I remember reading that his VW was an award winner and featured in VolksWorld a few times.. Can't remember who built it and Google doesn't seem to know either..

What a great advetnure cruising around Italy cooking wherever the view warrants a rest - il perfecto!! :smirk:

Che Castro - February 16th, 2006 at 12:14 PM

Missed it, only read this thread at 8:30 last night. I saw the school dinners stuff in the UK. I like him as a chef as well as a TV personality. Although if he says his van was a "complete pain in the arse" he probably isn't much of a mechanic!

pete wood - February 16th, 2006 at 01:00 PM

well it doesn't help when you try to fill the oil breather box with oil!

ian.mezz - February 16th, 2006 at 01:04 PM

it's on again next week, I think he's in trouble looks like he ran over someone ha ha.:bounce

Fred Bloggs - February 16th, 2006 at 02:49 PM

The van was originally built by Matt Keene ( who now writes for Volks World) and was fitted with a type 4 turbo motor which was changed to the current N/A type 4.
