they do my modified bug for about $800 a year and thats full comprehensive and a value of $12000.also they dont care so long as the cars street legal ie meets the adrs

BOOMERDOG - February 18th, 2006 at 11:01 PM

cool ta!

shaihulud - February 18th, 2006 at 11:11 PM

crewcab beat me to it. I recommend Shannons. They insured my buggy as long as it was registered and if it was modified further it complied with the ADRs etc. They have also insured my Manx SR as a non-going car being built in my shed, very cheaply. So I have the SR insured twice. First with the house and contents and second with Shannons. They know that and don't care. Their prices are good and you get such things as an agreed value and the wreck if it is written off.

I have no experience of them, but I expect Vigil to be much the same.

actually virgil wouldnt touch me because im using the car as a daily driver but how can you beat shannons for service

helbus - February 18th, 2006 at 11:36 PM

Shannons give multiple vehicle discount too. I have 3 cars and a bike fully comp for just under $1000.

I am quite certain they are favourable to Incorporatd car club members.

also GIO, agreed value available, salvage rights, and there vintage cover is for any vehicles over 30years old, is comprehensive, cost me less to insure the type3 as vintage with all rights at market value $3500 then insuring the kombi 3rd party/fire/theft market value $1800. i am 19years old and the type3 is costing me less then $400/year
i had some trouble the 2 times i tried shannons, maybe because of my age they wouldnt touch me with my modified kombi or the price was exessive (cant remember which).

Sounds like an ad for shannons this thread but, we too have received great service from them.

hipichic - February 19th, 2006 at 10:42 AM

yup, Shannons here too :) It costs me less to fully insure my bug with an agreed value of $8000 than it did to third party insure my old "mums taxi" falcon wagon!

I am with Shannons.....now.

They wouldnt insure your car before if it wasnt garaged.

About 2yrs ago they seem to have had a change in policy. My beetle is off streeted but not garaged.

NOW they will insure it

PrettyBlueBug - February 19th, 2006 at 12:56 PM

Shannon's all the way for me. Can't beat 'em. :thumb

VWCOOL - February 19th, 2006 at 05:02 PM

I use Torque underwriting for my insurance. These guys are unreal. Same sort of dealings as shannons but seem cheaper. For 5 vehicles I pay a total of $2500 am about to place the beetle in there as well so I guess it will not increase too much. (if at all).

Shannons would not touch me due to my age and the garage thing (not to mention the race track outings) torque was more than happy to insure and actually encouraged the race days and club membership. Brillant service.

Cheers
