Just got moniques motor back together now have to work out how to change the gearbox starter motor bush from 6v to 12 v.

You need a bush that has the outer dimensions of the six volt, but the smaller inner dimensions of the twelve volt....you used to be able to get them from some VW places, not sure if you still can, might have to get one machined up.

I can machine one up. What is the best material to use? Any idea of the sizes needed?

Measure the spigot on the 12V starter, I'd guess the same material as the original bushes....I think they're bronze arent they??? Not sure

Found one from another gearbox and put it in. Put in starter and it looks like tomorrow is the motor in time. Hope someones got a nice original beetle convertable for the wife.
