Ragerty - March 11th, 2006 at 05:21 AM

Hi How goes it?

How big is the V-Dub scene over there? Where's the best meets and best shows?

Should be moving over there in a couple of years so just testing the water ;)

Chars all

hellbugged - March 11th, 2006 at 07:19 AM

bajachris88 - March 11th, 2006 at 09:49 AM

vw scene ay? Well it was only bout 10 months ago i used to think all beetles were the same. and 10 months ago where i neva heard of anything such as a vw car show before.

Definitely not as big as the vw euro scene here, but there is vw action happening regularly if u know where to look for it.

IE: here :D :thumb ;)

Ragerty - March 11th, 2006 at 10:24 AM

Yep. Over here in the UK but should be with you guys in a year or two. I have a samba unsure whether to sell before I get there or bring it with me.

Hope the V-Dub scene is good otherwise we need to sort it ;)

winerot - March 11th, 2006 at 01:45 PM

the difference with here & europe is 1000kl's over there would get you across 3 or 4 borders over here it will get you from 1 city to another, oh you can hide england in kakadou & even dundee wouldnt find it.:P

HotRodMatt - March 11th, 2006 at 02:34 PM

It's gonna seem small to you compared to the U.K.

But around the times of the major shows the scene appears bigger.

I guess a lot depends on where you are heading. If you are going to live in Wagga, then you'll probably be on your own.

crewcabconnection - March 11th, 2006 at 02:47 PM

and we're full, but thanks for asking.

Ragerty - March 11th, 2006 at 07:12 PM

LOL Thousands of K's will get me into another country or 2 or even 3. lol But the place ain't like Oz. You guys have a good place to live. :) Can't wait.

Schmoburger - March 11th, 2006 at 07:53 PM

Let's see we have a few Vw shows annualley... Dubs By The Pub at im not sure where and the VW nationals in Sydney automatically spring to mind... and from whAT I heard, Euro Day in Newcastle, not strictly a VW show, seems to be getting conquered by the VW conquistadors led by our own Sam LOL

and If you live in Queensland or from what I have been told, Western Australia, every other car is a poptop Kombi :tu: :)

Ha ha. On the contrary. We have too many of them over here. You can bring it over, but because we have so many, I'll give you $1000 for it.

shaihulud - March 11th, 2006 at 08:25 PM

Two things. Definitely bring a Samba. Here, they are as rare as rocking horse droppings. Even here in Perth WA which is the most remote enclave of western civilisation in the world there is a good little VW scene, which would welcome a new and active member. Check out http://www.vwclub.asn.au.

crewcabconnection - March 11th, 2006 at 08:41 PM

Sun's too strong for a Samba, what you lot trying to kill him! ... bring it over, swap you a panel van, it will be much better for you to get used to the big yellow thing in the sky with. I'm used to the yellow thing. Wont cost you a cent mate.

And the best VW show is yet to happen Narooma....

Ragerty - March 12th, 2006 at 03:20 AM

Well worth a post this one as for seeing that avatar of s was quizy, well that the best chap. If you don't mind gotta airbrush that one on me bus ;)

As for the bus being forsale I guess your gonna have to raise the price a tad from 1k or swap for a panel van. lol But was worth a try ;)

Any more offers? lol

squizy - March 12th, 2006 at 06:23 AM

Even swapping for a panel van sounds good to me. :tu:

winerot - March 12th, 2006 at 08:04 AM

as matt said it might seem small compared to your scene but over the last year
i would say with pleasure that it has started to grow with speed with 2 type 2
clubs taking off & having get togethers & runs plus others like central coast f3dk
as above having more runs & being a hit at euro day & not forgetting all the other
states & territories & their respective clubs starting to grow with the new found
interest in volkswagen as a whole & more & more ppl wanting to arrange a meet
or run a show of sorts or just a casual cruise only means a brighter & bigger future
in the vw scene for australia & in saying all that i believe AVD is the & should always
be the unofficail umbrella for all vw clubs in aust without bias & with information at your fingertips to see whats going on in your area with the vw scene :tu:

this commercial was brought to you by wally & spoken by wally for the betterment of
the vw scene in australia without prejudice or bias & no payment or donation has or will
be accepted by wally or on wally's behalf (but a samba would be nice)

ah yes & below me is aust own vw mag with craig at the helm & i believe enough stories to keep him busy for a few years to come

Cheers me ode mate.

Just had a peruse over your magazine site and there seems plenty of dubs over there to chat about and some stunners in the classifieds section.

Guess you guys must be fed up with us poms popping over the purchase loads of dubs for the UK market?
There seems to be loads of companies over here doing so and visiting a few continents to do so.

Schmoburger - March 20th, 2006 at 08:54 AM

Say what????... COMPANIES now??????!!!!:cussing.... individuals i could handle... but COMPANIES???? OOOOOOH, I oughta..... :vader

I say we send a delegation to steal them and ship them all back home!;)

Ragerty - March 21st, 2006 at 03:51 AM

Yup, Fraid so Schmoburger. They have their fingers in the States, Oz and Sarf Ifrica. Buy a load of buses, bugs scrapers and sell the whole bus or parts salvaged.

The scene is massive over here and getting bigger all the time. One or two celebs have bought V-Dubs such as Jamie Oliver, the famous chef, Martin Clunes from 'Men behaving Badly' and Vernon Kay, a former model now turned TV presenter. The exposure of these guys and there buses pushes the price up.

Once I would have agreed with that, but after my recent visit to Tassie, I would have to say that the apple isle takes the cake for number of dubs per square metre of land! I came home black and blue from Mr Cabrio punching me in the arm yelling "punch buggy" everytime we saw a bug!

BOOMERDOG - March 25th, 2006 at 11:38 PM

if you bring it ,make sure the shipping company is alright, get ready for loads of paperwork & hassle ....this is the voice of experience talking mate,i done the movefrom the uk in dec 05 with my '54' oval

it turned up damaged,

VWFOOL - March 26th, 2006 at 09:08 AM
