Yeah, wicked is a church group (That's what I've been told). They have hire cars all over the place (I've even seen them in Cairns a few times) They've been around for a few years.

no its just a hire van company out of kings cross sydney that
hires out to backpackers along the east coast, backpackers would
come to aust on a holiday & buy a kombi, station wagon or whatever
then resell it when their visa was up, so someone came up with the
idea of these vans & a smart one at that, its a thriving business & the
kombi's are safe from backpackers & from the company as the hiacs,
econovans are cheap as chips.(backpackers visas can be up to 3 months)
japanese backpackers even rent out houses as a base &
when they go home other japanese backpackers take over
it saves them a lot of money this way & theres a lot of them.

wicked has been around for 5-6 years i reckon, the owner used to have a 744 volvo all graffitied up as his company car they have all sorts of crap on them even bart simpson doin a brown eye they start at about $40 a day ,not that cheap as its long term rental

winerot - April 5th, 2006 at 09:44 AM

yeh they started out as just vans then i believe someone at kings cross started to graffiti
all of them so they do stand out & some of them are very funny witty & even controversial.
david that is expensive it adds up over a period of time, my partner & i used to manage 2 hostels
in brisbane in the 80's long hours but a good life all the same, when the expo was on in brisbane
that was like an party that lasted 8 months quite surreal actually when it finished brisbane took a
while to get over it, brisbane was in a void for months.
cheers wally
