twoguns - April 6th, 2006 at 08:22 AM

bummer brendon. i thought you were already getting steve to build you a motor. not happened yet?
anyway mate. i feel your pain. i have been ripped twice before, so i understand the frustration. i would also appreciate a text of the details (not trusting u2u) for my own benefit. its the only way to avoid this sort of crap.

Bizarre - April 6th, 2006 at 08:28 AM

Was this motor installed and running in your car??

Was it running better than a "normal" 1600??

Could it "just" happened to have cracked and the "other" bloke got ripped as well as i remember he never actually ran it??

Barry

Craig Torrens - April 6th, 2006 at 10:34 AM

Would it be possible the person checking it has made a mistake?
I was told a case was no good once, and it ended up being perfect !!!

Wouldn't be the first time someone has made a mistake.

Just a thought.

yep, no guarantee on the forums. Although something hitting the fan bad enough could cause the buying section to not exist at all.

I bought a tacho recently, was told it was 3inch...ended up being 3 1/3 inch. unless the person who you bought it from its willing to fix their mistake there is nothing you can really do about it.

VWCOOL - April 6th, 2006 at 11:56 AM

Caveat Emptor: Buyer beware

The alternator and steering wheel I bought from people on here were stuffed too...

Too true, it would make life a lot easier and less stressful for all the moderators/admin. :cry

The alternative - Ebay has also had people caught out, although negative feedback can help warn other buyers. Ebay has a primary function which is buying and selling. They are able to cope with all aspects of it.

AVD is primarily a social and technical network of Aussie Vee Dubbers.

bajachris88 - April 6th, 2006 at 01:29 PM

send me the sellers details as well. Cause i will be looking for engines hopefully in the near future.

LUFTMEISTER - April 6th, 2006 at 08:34 PM

is there a song about this person?
I love cryptic crosswords
sorry about your loss, hope it gets better from now.:tu:

DubCrazy - April 6th, 2006 at 08:45 PM

dude sorry some one ripped you off but why post if your not going to name names??

I have a fair idea who it is and i doubt if they even look in here anymore since they left to go home.

What would it matter if you named them? on the off chance they are going to try and sell on here again people need to know.

I doubt we will ever hear from said person again

steff............................

bond - April 7th, 2006 at 12:10 AM

As you can see it's 3.36 and I'm having a hard time getting some sleep as it is. Woke up thinking adapter platers and plumbing trying to decide between a Watercooled option and a traditional aircolled 1600 / 1650 or 1776.

Reading a thread like this makes it hard to want to buy from people and steers me toward mechanics. Who incidently I have been ripped of by anyhow.

I like to see the good in all people. Our last car we bought sight unseen and when I drove 6 hours to pick it up there were scratches right down the entire length of both sides. They were so minor they couldn't be seen in the photographs taken in the beautiful setting sun. But unfortunately they are major enough to need a respray for a propper fix. :(

My wife gets upset at me when we are selling someting because she says I'm too honest but I would rather be too honest and face the thought of someone thinking I ripped them off. I ask for the price I want for it and I "no holds barred" explain what the person is recieving.

I'm sorry to hear that yet another person has been ripped off. I can understand how people would like to list those who do this but in the small fact that it may not have been intentional then it's better left unnamed from the record but whispered in the hallways.

Like they say in marketing 101-

"Nothing is more powerful than the word of mouth".

Bronze.

PS - This is what happens when you rob people (Caution Graphic - M rated) ---> This robber apparently survived - Believe it or not.

No names on AVD for this purpose. If there is a legal recourse, then that is the correct avenue to go down, not here.

Word gets around that people rip people off when they haven't too. Always take complaints with a grain of salt.

I know of one person who blamed a seller for them grenading an engine (the same person who had FUBARed several engines) when they thrashed it and didn't set the timing and gaps as explained.

Hopefully kroozzn gets a good one this time, sometimes that takes the edge off being ripped.
