Sweet sounds around me...

In your humble opinion, 50 words or less... (be descriptive)

A) Describe what has been the most beautiful sound you have heard come from the rear of a VW make? (air or water, VW or non)

B) Describe what motor produces a note that just make you go weak at the knees? (any make registered or not)

A) A twin cab kombi with wrapped 3 inch exhausts outside a VW shop in Newcaste. I think it must have had a mild cam and was injected because it was a lovely lumpy note at idle and barked louded right before the change.

B) Any Ducati motorcycle, but particulary the older needle roller bottom end ones. Very sweet. I czan pick them coming blocks away. The drag bug at the Nats stung my eyes and neary made me pass out a couple of years ago though. Awesome machine!

a) I love the sound of my Bug with the Zoomtube when I go through a tunnel.... sooooo nice and loud! ;)

b) agree with the Ducati bikes but I think I love the following more: dirt road at night in the middle of nowhere; standing at a corner in the cold wearing a big warm jacket and holding a hot coffee; in the distance a sound breaks the silence and starts getting louder and louder and headlights pierce the trees.... RALLY CARS!!! :P

a) the sound of my kombi, that little 1.8 subi with a rediculous amount of 2inch pipework attached to the back, really get tickled by that sound at idle every now and then.

b)something about the old aussie battle tanks, a ford landau 2 door, or gtho just sitting and idling, whole body shaking with the engine, cant quite beat that i recon.

B) 1953 (?) BRM V16 Grand Prix engine.... any race fan that hears that will know it for the cylinder symphony it is........

a)The racket that came out of Ross Freestone's "Houndog" at the Nationals '89 or '90 when he fired it up at the Sunday Show Day. Awesome Stuff

b)Not really weak at the knees but the sound of an "Iroquois" or "Huey" helicopter sends a chill up my spine every time.

I like the sound of my bugs Empi 4 tip exhaust.

Can't go past the V16 BRM F1 engine. Have it on CD and play it real loud every so often to scare the neighbours

1/ A Lamborgini Esparda taking off at full throttle from a classic car show at macleans bridge about 12 years ago
2/ the sound of a 930 turbo taking off a few seconds later to chase him down (must have been mates) heading of towards Beaudesert to dust the cobwebs off.
