I rent a space in an apartment block, There is a fire inspection apparantly and the whole place has been cleaned. Guess what any old kombis in there are not there?

Anyone got any ideas on this I can't contact the body corp till monday, I am not a resident in the block I just rent a space. any help would be great as I am obviously sh*tting it

If you rented a vehicle spot, and the Fire Brigade does not allow vehicles to be parked there (because it would be blocking access or something) then I guess it's no longer a vehicle spot that can be rented.

Get your money back.

basically yes, it looks like they had a fire inspection and have had a clear out of the parking spaces, rubbish and doggy cars have gone, can get no word from anyone. it got towed this morning. i am reporting it stolen now. pretty gutted

damn.

Hopefully the body corporate have removed to a place of safe keeping. No one had my permission or informed me of any such action. Is now reported stolen.

beerdoc you can only hope that the persons responsible have a soft spot for old girls and its stored else where....even the worst case senario there are enough people out there now who know what they are worth...so its a matter of tracking down the tow truck operator and see who he sold it to......good luck hope it shows its face soon ...ps will have a rear corner for a early bay very soon cheers steve

Ask the fire guys who the contractor was. Or the maintenance manager for the building who they contract to remove rubbish. Have a look at the industrial bins on site. Chances are they have the same account and provide a bulk service. Must industrlial bins have a number on them. Ring it and ask.

Chances are the worst that can happen is you have to pay them for the time it took for them to remove it and then you can invoice the body corperate to recover the cost. Either way its a good lead. Most BC's make treasury easy by using the same contractors and recieving one bill.

Ring the nearest scarp metal companys immediatly! Good money is being given now for scap metal.Where as once people were happy to have old cars in their yard are now enticed with a $30-50 reward for thier unwanted car that will be removed for them.I have seen some classics with all trim etc still fitted crushed so they can be stacked more easily!Its all weight and they get paid by the tonne.

The person who rented you the space could be held responsible. They would have been advised of the clean up, with plenty of notice. Things like this dont happen overnight, they take planning, and you should have been advised by the person you are paying rent to. Get some advice from a chamber magistrate, and persue them for the rent you paid, as clearly it wasnt thier space to rent out, and compensation for the missing vehicle.

Beerboy. If you get no joy from tyhe body corporate on Monday. I would consider sending them a letter from a solicitor which politely advises them that they are likely to be sued if the car is not returned ASAP. It depends upon how much you want to spend, of course. But a polite
" I'm carrying a big stick" letter to them and the person who rented the space may be all that is needed and will not cost a huge amount. Only the follow up to court is expensive.

what gets me that no ones has a clue. building manager on site. other residents, estate agents I rent it off.

Did I read it correctly ? You rent the space off a REAL ESTATE AGENT ? if so, then make it their problem. They are running a business and act on behalf of the owner, but also have an OBLIGATION to you, the tennant. You should have been notified of the clean up, but more to the point, if they were aware of you storing the bus there, and rented you the space for the purpose of storing the bus there, then they approved of it being there on behalf of the owner and are responsible. Do you have a lease, or anything in writing for the rented space ?

I live in a block of flats too Beerboy, and body corporates are shocking at telling you what is going on, never lost a car though. It could be just a bloody coincidence that your bus got nicked by someone else. Hope you find it man.

1964_Notch yes you read it correctly I have a full on tenancy agreement for a flat rather than a garage. But they are a real estate agent, and a pretty useless one at that.

No been moved by the body corporate, I got news of where it is.

The only person with any sense was the towie and instead of dumping it in the street, he took it back to his yard.

Body corporate recon they informed people. That is why then there are no poster or notes or anything. In the garage or in loby. managers on site don't have a clue.

and then the best bit after removing my vechicle and given me two days of worry they want me to be greatful they have tied it up. Well p*ssed with them.

I've rented a few places all from different Real Estates or private landlords. Only a couple have had a body corporate thing. Some have been great where I've had notices regarding every little thing, other's I've been lucky to get one notice of anything happening.

Good luck to you getting this sorted, I'd say the person you rent the spot from is liable.

yeah but you get the kind of impression they are used to doing these actions, and know exactly what they can get away with. Or more likely there is not much you can do

I suggest that you get the splitty back, store it elsewhere and stop paying rent to the value of your costs. Let them know why. Include your bond in that amount. Then leave owing them that amount, exactly to the cent. If you didn't get a notice in writing from them then don't put what you are doing in writing either. Be careful about puting anything in writing. It will give them big leverage in the Small Claims Court

Need to think about it really. rent is pretty cheap, which I know is false economy. With regards to this. I have a garage and my other kombi has been hit by a third party. So need to make some decisions and sort some shit out.

On the plus side I have been pretty vocal that all now know what is stroed there. Which again might not be such a good idea. I think also the idea is to get you out as they are trying to make it more respectable.

kick old cars out is a good way of not making you feel welcome isn't it. with comments like now its clean and can you put a cover over it.

More reason to leave it there with a spray paint this car belongs to on the side.

but yes I think an alternative might be a good option.
