no science to it (sorta)m just lots of fun and cheaper than stripping sparklers and making mini flares..

True that.
Wil anything ever topple a burning crank case from it's Throne-Of-Fun-Things-To-Burn?

pete wood - April 10th, 2006 at 04:35 PM

Bizarre - April 10th, 2006 at 04:37 PM

Oh..wait...no...leave the pants on at all costs!!! :puke :P

CAFFINEPUSHERMAN - April 11th, 2006 at 09:46 AM

you can also hook up a steel wool to a set of jumper leads connected to a car battery to start a fire :thumb

Schmoburger - April 11th, 2006 at 04:42 PM

yep...we did it with 12V DC power supplies in Science at highscool... uber fun!...also uber dangerous in the hands of a class of mental Year 9 kids LOL :P

Fun thing i eva did in high school was on the last chem lesson of my school life (in yr 12). Old Mr. Little thought it would be fun to get a milk bottle fill it 2/5 of wateva, get some blue tack, stick some potassium on the lid, then go out to an open field, put hte lid on, and hurl it like a grenade.

You can guess the rest ;) Lol

He was an awesome teacher. He don't care much for rules and regulations for safety, he was the head of department, Lol. Fun fun.

Schmoburger - April 12th, 2006 at 02:48 PM

HAHHAHAA... thats my kinda science teacher... yeah... old Townsy' (we actually just called him by his first name...Randolph!) was like that too...hehe..and he wasnt even head of the dept!

LOL

I was doing some grinding in the garage once, and the sparksfalling onto some steel wool that was lying around started to smolder from the sparks!

Don't know why I told that story just now...

Schmoburger - April 13th, 2006 at 07:57 PM

I set fire to a shooldesk in science once...heheh... but that was deliberate.

Thhe craziest part is tho... twas ARRANGED by our science teacher! :duh

Another good one was when the teacher dude got a Milo tin, cut a small hole in the center of the lid and bottom. then a bunsen burner hose is put in through the bottom hole, and the other end is connected to the gas tap and turned on. the gas escaping from the hole in the lid is then ignitedand burns initially with a very hight flame... this however slowly reduces in size, as it burns down iside the gas in the tin.
Eventually the flme more or less dissapears from the top... as if it has gone out... but it is actually still burning within, and within a bout 10 seconds or so of the flame seeming to dissappear... KERBLAMMMM!!!!!! :bounce

sends the lid near into orbit and makes a nice impressive flame/explosion typpe thing.... very cool indeed!...also potentially hazardous tho... so at this point, I will disclaim any responsibility for any injuries incurred including but not limited to nosebleeds caused by a metal disc being blown up somebodies nostril!!! :tu:

*did* - April 14th, 2006 at 11:24 AM

I have some magnesium at mine if you wanna hit it with the grinder... hehehe
