Dont dislike them but they dont really do anything for me either. It is very 80's like esp the sex city song.

They're playing at Wollongong Uni next week I think.

Open to all, next thursday. They are supporting End of Fashion so might not get to play too much.

Umm they are OK. I dont really like 80's kind of retro bands. I went to uni with the drummer.

hehehe...I love teh 80's :P

I was in Oporto about an hour ago and they had continuous 80's shit on the plasme the whole time... Springsteen, Bowie, Brian Ferry, Blondie, the Models... it was awsome! :D

might eat at Oporto more often hehehehe

Che Castro - May 5th, 2006 at 02:51 PM

I love the 80's for music, but just dont try to create rip off music in 2006. Unless its' a pisstake :)

Schmoburger - May 5th, 2006 at 04:37 PM

hehe..are franz ferdinand what would be consisered a pisstake?... they seem so rediculous with a lot of there songs and vids, but with "This Fire", it looks and sounds almost like they were trying to semi-authentically recreate early 80's style pop-music... and I reckon they did a pretty fine job. Nice and 80's, but with enough modern influence to make it not seem stale or unoriginal. :)

just my bunghole... I mean... opinion. :P

Che Castro - May 5th, 2006 at 05:28 PM

I like 80's inspired, just not a straight up copy :D hehe

Schmoburger - May 5th, 2006 at 06:31 PM

mmmm.. I dunno... I reckon Van She strike me as being a blend of 80's electronic pop, 70's surf tunes, and modern indy.... not a straight rip-off really as such. :)

I'm just talking music-wise... as far as what they look like to the eye... yeh.. I think they are going for the 80's thing... maybe even a bit of 50's.... snazzy whichever way... but again... thats just my bunghole on the topic :tu:

Im more into em for their music... i like the retro-style... i listen to Roy Orbison and The Beatles more than anything remember!
