baggedbug68 - May 8th, 2006 at 11:08 PM

pete wood - May 8th, 2006 at 11:20 PM

that red ghia has a very familiar looking type 4 turbo motor in it. Has the cab got a different motor in it now?

Glad ya made it to the blast after all! :bounce

The engine in the Ghia is a 1776cc type-1 engine with a T-2 garrett turbo and a 1 3/4" SU carburettor . I finished it for the customer 2 weeks prior to the show .
It runs 7.2:1 compression and produced 72bhp @ the rear wheels on 4psi boost . Goes really well and sounds just like a porsche boxster with the center outlet tailpipe . Everything is ceramic coated or polished or chromed just like the type-4 engine in Mango .
The firewall was manufactured out of stainless steel and engraved with the words ' Karmann Ghia Turbo' and then fully polished . Looks like I will have to pull the engine on Mango soon and make one of these firewalls for myself .
