Pulled out my first VW engine tonight, in my quest to find the source of my lack of clutch action. Took 30 minutes and I found a totaly disassebled
thrust bearing on the bottom of my bell housing. Now I get to put it back in again on my own. How exciting for me! I wonder if it will go in as easy
as it came out? Im sure it will.

just hope you put in a new throw out bearing and clips.. while your there may as well do the seals on mtr and box and new clutch as well.. have fun..
dont forget mounts lol
Clutch appears to be rather new sachs item. Heaps of meat left on it, which is good(=cheap). might replace the seal around the engine compartment, see how we go.
Hertz. I learned this lesson years ago. ALWAYS replace the oil seals on the clutch end of the cranckshaft and the gearbox as one of them will ALWAYS fail about a month after you have had the engine out. It's one of the corollaries of Murphy's Law.
haha i saw u proud in the new aussie vw mag today, u funny man
They should of took a photo of me last night, yelling at my car on the side of the road.
when ya yelling shake yo fist in the air and jump a little.... it helps with the look of Maddness!!!
"shake harder boy!"
make sure them clips are on right!
or they come off really quick!
iv'e got the same problem....your more than welcome to come over and fix mine:o
runs away....quickly..........
Well it all slid back together with total ease, and the clutch is even working now. Hopefully those clips should be right Mark, or else I suppose I get to do it again. I even replaced that engine bay rubber while I was there and gave the bay a quick tidy up. Man what a difference, no more noise, It feels like a different car.
well done son....
whoo hooo good on ya!
