AVD "search" program
Desert Bug - May 14th, 2006 at 11:06 AM

G'day,

I guess this is directed to the Admin people, I find the search thing very frustrating as you have to put in the exact title of a thread to get a result, could we have a section in there like "Thread or post containing ........." where you type in a couple of words of a subject your interested in without having to know the title of the thread. This would make searching a hell of a lot more enjoyable instead of searching for hours and not finding what you're looking for.

Just a suggestion,
Cheers, Ian.

yup! good call Ian.

Search function is a little anal when it come to titles.

Admin. I agree. I can never remember the exact name of a thread. Do it like a search engine. Work on the key words. I agree with Bug and empi. Please, pretty please, with sugar all over.

All are good ideas, but this also means an upgraded ultimabb software program I assume.
This too means more money! It would be nice to have a more user-friendly search engine, but we may just have to wait a while.

good idea..

you can also use google to search aussieveedubbers, this will only search stuff that the google bot has found (not updated regularly) .. goto Google and type in

site:forums.aussieveedubbers.com [keyword].. no []'s of course..

or

site:www.aussieveedubbers.com [keyword]

best click on the 'cached' part in google search..

Is it me....but i just use keywords in the search function on avd...

Of instance...to find this thread...i just used the word 'search' nothing else...thread found!

But one things i'd like it to do..is set the time limit to the last year, or beginning as the first option...not the last.

I'm always forgetting to change it myself...and then reset the search again...DOH!

Well it seems like it is now working, so good news. I may have been doing something wrong but I've never seen it work like it is now.
Thanks for that if someone sorted it.
Cheers, Ian.
