VW Cruise in Hobart 5th June?
jenz58 - June 8th, 2006 at 02:25 PM

I was driving into Hobart last Sunday from the airport and saw a heap of VW's driving out of town....where did you go?

I was driving a hired white NB...AND I waved :smirk:

Do any of you live around Battery Point....there's a whole nest of VW's around there...:kiss

Jen!!!! :P

One of my friends has an olivey Bay camper... she lives in Hobart but I don't think she cruises much.
Have heard there's heaps of Dubs down there though!

jenz58 - June 8th, 2006 at 03:13 PM

Hey Laura!! :)

There are heaps of dubbs down there....looks like a lot were on the cruise...the first one I saw was a sweet blue notch ... lots of kombi's as well...and beetles....if I wasn't feeling so hung over from our wedding I would have done a u turn and joined them...I could have been the NB in the bunch .... Hmmm instead we headed to a cafe and let the morn drift by for a while :duh ;)

PrettyBlueBug - June 8th, 2006 at 03:18 PM

Whose wedding was it? I hope it was nice and not 'too' cold... :P

jenz58 - June 8th, 2006 at 03:53 PM

I was mine and Eddie's....I'll post pics when I get a few....I hope someone took digitas :duh

Last Saturday turned out nice thank goodness and we walked through the city from the registry office to the Boathouse near Princes Bridge where we had the reception...we had a troupe of loyal friends who walked along with us...it was cool both ways :P

Downloading some pics now of Tassie and the NB

jenz58 - June 8th, 2006 at 03:54 PM

Laura I hope someone from Hobart joins in here :)

PrettyBlueBug - June 8th, 2006 at 04:06 PM

OMG Jen!! Congrats to you both!! :kiss

Can't wait to see pics! :P

I've not seen any wedding pics yet but here's the NB at Lake Pedder in Tassie .... on Bruny Island...and in Mount Field National Park

I must admit that the old style beetle I wanted to hire (Rent-a- Bug does exist now) would not have got us the distances we travels in the same time... I didn't need to change down gears for some of the mountains we climbed...I guess there are some advantages to a new car like heating when it's SO ICY brrrrr

vw54 - June 8th, 2006 at 06:08 PM

Is that footprints on the dash LOL

mscabrio - June 8th, 2006 at 07:38 PM

Hey Jen CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Glad that you had a great wedding day and honeymoon. Isn't Tassie amazing? when Rod and I went over in March we had a ball. I was very surprised at the number of VW's that we saw, they were everywhere!

ragtopp - June 8th, 2006 at 08:33 PM

Hi sorry we missed you. We had a pizza cruise, took the scenic route to an Italian pizza joint out in the country, we did get a few along, about 18 i think. There was a fair collection, you should have joined us! Congrats on the wedding by the way.

jenz58 - June 8th, 2006 at 10:25 PM

Pizza would have been just what we needed after the big night before...I should have done that u turn...you had perfect weather for a cruise

jenz58 - June 8th, 2006 at 10:27 PM

Hey Jen! Congratulations to the both of you! That's great news!

wow, didn't know Tassie had such a large scene there - looks great...

ragtopp - June 9th, 2006 at 11:22 PM

An gettin bigger all the time!!!

jenz58 - June 10th, 2006 at 10:24 AM

Jo I waved to you... maybe you thought is was a figment of your imagination or thinking too much about what pizza to order:smirk:

It was a manual NB...great to drive once I got used to the power steering and that I had 5th gear

Hmmm the number of times I put the wipers on to turn a corner was embarrassing

A totally different experience to driving Bel my '58 beetle or Dr L my '70 sqback.....so not used to the windscreen being SO far forward either...and the front pillars seemed to block the view a bit??? It seemed a bit weird??

Looks like you meet up near Flippers...yummmmmm....we went there for lunch....I've always gotta go there at least once per trip to Hobart

62deluxe - June 10th, 2006 at 09:43 PM

We always start at Muirs- the big building near Flippers.
I agree on the pillar thing, that was how I found it too, a bit like tunnel vision. Get used to it I guess...
Sorry we snobbed you!
