Oettinger were making twin engine GTI's and Sciroccos back in the 70's and 80's for the Pikes Peak challenge. Not as wild as this one, but they had two 16V 1.8L putting out 170bhp each mated together through a modified auto box.

Nice idea....keeping em in synch would be unbelievably painful tho I'd imagine.

Greyhound hit this issue with there Scenicriuser buses back in the mid-50's, which originally ran 2 4-cylinder diesel motors. They were such a pain in the ass that they re-engined them all with a single V8 in 1962... :lol:
