I don't mind Karmann. Sound nice.

Iris - love it, very clever!
Abby (ie, ee, etc) - Hebrew for "Her Father Rejoiced"
Tammy (Tamara, Tammee, etc.) - Hebrew for "Perfection"
Mischka - Russian for "Loved One"

My only suggestion is to give her names that she will not have to spell all the time.

For example Siobhan is Irish/Gaelic and is pronounced Shavorn. Whichever way it will always need to be spelled and Irish people will be annoyed by the phonetic spelling.

Also name her Janet or Janine or Janette not Jan. That is give her the full name and call her by the short nick name. Don't name her a nick name.

As for VW related names. I say don't do it. It will be very annoying to her if it is her first name. For example Janet Karmann is OK, but Karmann Janet is not.

I knew someone once whose parents were fanatical communists and his given names were Karl Marx. He hated it.

My 2 cents worth.

Samba Rat Thing...

PrettyBlueBug - June 16th, 2006 at 09:05 AM

What's wrong with Karmann? :P

You could always call her 'Shutup' or 'Getlost' so it saves time... (tame version of The Young Ones quote) ;)

Shelby ...hmmm

Mack truck would be my second choice..

I do know a girl called Zooey.

buddadubba - June 16th, 2006 at 12:49 PM

Whats wrong with Karmann??? i'll tell you whats wrong with sharing the same name as a car...what if you and karmann were at a bbq in the year 2027...you walk up to get a snag off the barbie and overhear one gent talking to another, "maaate, i got home last night and jammed 2 fingers in the back door of me mates Karmann!" confusion, surprise and embarrassment for all....as this car was only made as a coupe...thats whats wrong with Karmann...

My eldest son's name is Austin Riley... But I swear he's not named after a car (or two). He has a cousin named Chevrolet, Chevy to "her" friends. Definitely don't try to name your kids after cars, although it is a lot nicer than naming them after recent Aussie prime ministers... Or recent American presidents for that matter...

baybuscamperkid - June 17th, 2006 at 03:46 PM

nothing wrong with Karmann, so long as it is spelt Carmen, Ive known one or 2 Carmens
