kombi colour question
megalania - June 19th, 2006 at 09:18 AM

Hi people,
I know this should really go in painting and interior but I thought I would get a better idea in this section. I was thinking of painting my 1975 bus completely white then painting a purple pearl over the lower half of the van to give it a two tone effect. If I painted the purple pearl over the white would it go on as purple or clear? would it change colour when the sun hit it from a specific angle/direction or would it just spray on a light purple?

I really have no idea what to paint on my bus.

Thanks for any comments/opinions. They are all greatly appreciated

Maurice

I've seen a Beetle painted in white with purple-pearl... in the sun it looks awesome, but in the shade it sort of looks a dirty yellowy colour which was yukky. I've also seen a white with aqua-pearl and that had the same yellowy look in the shade.

I can't believe how hard it is to come up with an idea for a kombi that looks modern and cool but doesn't stick out like dogs b@@ls

Maybe a reverse two tone would look better.

What do you guys think of this?

yep...kombis look good whichever way you paint em...

That one looks good...but maybe break up the white with something... a design or flashes perhaps? :tu: :)

Cheers!

Im biased but i recon there was some hot colours comeing out on the early BA falcons that convert real well onto kombis. i used the mandarin orange with a bright (blue)white and it stands out and gets heaps of looks without looking wrong. would love to see a bay kombi done in their blue with white.

baybuscamperkid - June 20th, 2006 at 06:49 PM

non metallic, but yeah, i think thats the one, from memory the colours were on the performance models. recon that could look sexy with bright white upper half

Schmoburger - June 20th, 2006 at 06:56 PM

hell yeh! :bounce

megalania - June 20th, 2006 at 07:25 PM

or was it this one? I must admit I really do like this colour.

baybuscamperkid - June 21st, 2006 at 10:05 AM

that could definitely work. although my paintjob is pretty rough, you can see that their mandarin doesnt look out of place and gives the car a good freshen up at the same time.

Paint Job looks ok to me, so does the colour. Is it a home job?

baybuscamperkid - June 21st, 2006 at 05:21 PM

yeah, home jobby, was my first time with a spray gun so came off way too dull and matt, waiting for attempt 2 soon.
Bionic blue was the blue i was thinking of, but ir econ toxic green could look pretty wild also :D
