Mondays suck... well, they used to!
PrettyBlueBug - June 19th, 2006 at 12:50 PM

:cry

I just got made redundant, 2 weeks paid notice whether I work or not... I chose not.

What a wonderful start to the week. :sniffle:

Makes me think of that 'I don't like Mondays' song....

:cry

I was a Wholesale Warehouse Sales and Showroom Manager (sales, administration, visual merch. and also minor IT stuff). The company I work (err... worked) for decided to focus on NSW, QLD and now WA instead of poor 'lil VIC. I didn't do anything wrong, but it's their loss. I was mainly clothing and worked alongside a jewellery Sales Rep who has been there longer than me. Now she gets to do her job AND my job which she knows nothing about!

But yeah, I do want work so I'll just have to find something new and exciting... and different too I hope!
Besides, I have to work else I'll be bored and will annoy everyone on AVD and will have no money for my Fasty... :P

Appreciate the chin ups guys, you all rock. :kiss

I can get you a job at Boeing working on aircraft, but you would have to move to Brisvegas, now that would be an exciting change for you. Mmmm Jet noise.

hipichic - June 19th, 2006 at 07:21 PM

I still can't believe those laws passed. My condolenses to you PBB. I wouldn't be so sure about next election, the majority of retired folk like John and I heard that over 60% of Oz's population is over the age 0f 65! and we just starting to get into the baby boomers arent we?

With Kim in charge they won't win. I like Kevin Rudd or Ms Gillard. Maybe its time we had a lady in charge. I've heard they can do more than one thing at a time..... thats...um dammit, I can't think and type at the same time. Damn DNA :)

oval TOFU - June 19th, 2006 at 08:06 PM

Crapola Laura! Sorry to hear the news.. I think there will be something better around the corner for you though... your too nice to waste in the industry..

good luck!

helbus - June 19th, 2006 at 08:21 PM

That would suck. There are so many factors in a job and getting the right amount of each component is hard to do. All of my job changes over the years ahve been me quitting, and I suppose having a trade makes it pretty simple to get another job. I would always find that changing jobs was as good as a holiday though. Unexpected change would make it a bit harder though.

PrettyBlueBug - June 19th, 2006 at 09:47 PM

Well, I'm a Jack (or should i say a Jill) of all trades... just applied for about half a dozen jobs tonight. Am seeing my 'Career Advisor' of a father tomorrow night for some input since he's a hirer-and-firer.
I don't think it has hit me yet.
I was bored in my job, but I know there's a lot worse ones out there. A change of scenery is in order, but definitely not going interstate.

Thanx again for all the kind comments, keep those fingers crossed something good comes up soon... means Retro will get fininshed sooner! :P

hellbugged - June 19th, 2006 at 09:57 PM

yeah, bad luck,

but at the same time, GOOD LUCK! as well....

the couple of times i have been "moved on", afterwards i loved it and thought i should make job changes more often.

all the best to you.

Spook - June 20th, 2006 at 05:47 AM

Go out & drive trains. I'm told connex is screaming for drivers.

pete wood - June 20th, 2006 at 10:17 AM

PBB, did they give you a proper redundancy payout?

Time to join unions again people. That's the only way to get workers rights back...afterall that's how we got em in the first place.

I may have a problem, there doesn't seem to be a union for ministers, just as well my boss is so forgiving eh. ;)

PrettyBlueBug - June 20th, 2006 at 10:32 AM

Yeah, I got 2 weeks paid notice, 4 weeks redundancy pay, plus hols and sick leave on top.
Still, it's the first time I've ever lost a job not of my choosing! :fakesniff:

koolkarmakombi - June 20th, 2006 at 10:40 AM

seek.com babe!

PrettyBlueBug - June 20th, 2006 at 04:37 PM

Seek.com is my new friend.... :P

bajachris88 - June 20th, 2006 at 05:45 PM

you will be alright.

Earlier this yr, i worked at a surf clothing retailer, they started giving me crap hrs, living on $36 as a uni student a week. ($20 went to transport, $10 went to paying my bro back, the rest, well, no idea). But... After worrying for a while, everything fell in place.

I'm at a great job now, with excellent fellow staff. Everything, that is, the place, the fellow employees, the boss, the hrs, etc. is better. downside, still same pay and longer to travel to. But ay, i luv it.

Just keep up the faith, and u will be alright. Life will find a way. Have hope!

fekkinell - June 20th, 2006 at 05:46 PM

That sucks... i got pushed out of a company i had worked hard with for over 4 years... f***ing americans :P

Maybe you could set up your own little business? DAMN THE MAN, POWER TO THE PEOPLE ;)

:kiss

PrettyBlueBug - June 20th, 2006 at 06:21 PM

I've thought about setting up my own business but it's so slow everywhere at the moment and rents are stupidly high. One day maybe... :P
