Bad start to the day
jeremy - June 22nd, 2006 at 07:30 AM

ARRGGHH What a bad night and start to the day!

Our 2 week old baby won't sleep at night so I have been up since 2am.

At about 6.30 I hear someone walking and banging around outside my house near my other kids bedroom.

Go out side to confront the person and it the Gas Man wanting to fill up my gas tank however there is a pile of car parts in the way (Kombi front beam, doors, wheels etc)

He says "Move all this junk and I can fill up your tank"

So now I am really mad.

I said "You can stick your gas up your ar$e, come back when its daylight"

I then ring the gas companies 24hr hotline trying to make a complaint, and was told that legally they can come from 6am, what a load of ****.

Its my house, I am paying for the gas, why the hell can they just come when it suits them and wake the rest of my kids up.

Next time I will hit them with a baseball bat and tell the judge I though it was a burgular.

Vent over!

I lived in a unit and the guys who drained the septic tanks would come at like 5:30 in the morning wake me up with the sound of their diesel truck and pump and the smell of diesel and shit would waft through the vents, i let this pass the first time but the second time they got the big f%&* off.

This baby is number 5. Our eldest is only 5 years old.

Every night there is always an awake child.

But the upside of this is I can surf the net, study and plan for the perfect kombi. :P

Okay,
say you're of a certain religious faith that is scared when people talk about Gas and people coming about in the night time, and that they scared the kids and it took a few days to calm them down thanks to Gran's stories of when she was in Europe in the 30's. Then hitthem with religious persecution.
If that doesn't work, go the baseball bat option!

Well I can say I have seen this from the other side,

I worked for the local gas company for 4 years on and off, in winter we worked at least 12 hour days, starting at 5.30am, (we had no choice), I hated it, there were so many deliveries to do, we had to.

We always tried to be as quiet as possible, but with a diesel Acco tanker idling in the street, it was impossible. you would get the odd cranky customer come out and abuse you, however most were fine, but you could always guarrantee the person who told you to piss off were the ones who would call after hours for a fill, as they had run out of gas, and then complain that it took half a day for us to get to them and they had no hot water or heater.
That is one job I don't miss.
If I ever saw someone coming at me with a baseball bat, just a short squirt of liquid LPG would cool them down!! plenty of growling dogs got that treatment.

Sorry to hear about your morning mate. If it makes you feel any better I had a shithouse day too! Was taking my kombi to get a safety cert and hopefully registered and on the way to the workshop got pulled over by the cops. In the middle of Redland Bay! We never see coppers here and they just happened to drive through this morning. So after they check to see I had all the proper papers and stuff and holding me up for 15 min I got stuck in traffic because some moron decided to have an accident on the Gateway at Old Cleveland Rd. So I'm 1/2 hour late for work and dropping the kombi off. It fails. (suprise!) Apparently it
was produced as a 2 seater panel van with windows??? according to the vin plate. So the seats that came with it can't stay till I get a mod plate. Then on the way home in the kombi on Lytton Rd there's a RBT with three cop cars! WTF?!
Are you guys out to get me!? Hang a very quick left turn into a sidestreet, do a U-turn and go through the back streets to get around them. And the throttle pedal decided to stick all the way home.

So that's my crap day....
