I've made a cable shifter from the guts of a 2000'ish Celica, does not look that cool though :) I'll give you a call if work ever gets quiet.

Cheers Stephen

Could someone tell me just generally how a cable shifter works?

Cheers

seagull - July 9th, 2006 at 11:33 PM

The shifter the cable is for the R lock out

gerbie_rox - July 9th, 2006 at 11:37 PM

And now for even stupider people like me?

Or shud it be left unexplained :P

71superbug - July 9th, 2006 at 11:49 PM

i think neil means that it is for the "reverse lock out" which basically means you cant push it into reverse without pulling up a leverl on the gearstick or something similar. which takes out the possibility of shifting accidently into reverse while changing gears.
