why the big rush on type 3's ? A year ago you could get them for free as every one was giving them away... but now no one wants to sell any parts
unless you get a bank loan.
I put an add on here for some bits for my 2 notch's and I have had 7 emails to see if I will sell them, and 5 were from pomies overseas.
I know there was a big rush on split Kombi's like they were gold in a gold rush. With people buying rusty old busses for 10k with dents all over
them. Are type 3's becoming the new fad ?
a sure fire way to stop demand would be for me to put one up for sale .nobody wants anything i am selling when it comes to cars.
I've been after a replacement fastback for more than 5 years on and off.Time to get one now as my vehicle situation is changing somewhat...better now than never!!!Lotsa notch's for sale CHEAP at he moment..pity i don't want to own one as a first preference!! Might be some people have finally "clicked".:party
A guy offer me stupid money for my Notch and I was happy to take it of him.
So long, $ucker.................

Hows that Truck going your building at your shop , the guy driven it away ? been keeping an eye out for it .
Fitting the 1916 air compressor to this one chris ?
crazy hey! i got a notch for free a few years ago which had been offered for free on here for several weeks without a bite, then paid $500 for a wagon
which needed a little work but had had about 4k in mechanical work done in a couple of years meaning rebuilt engine, starter, dizzy.....
now there seems to be heaps forsale, people actually takign interest, i blame (and thank)the volkommen art boys - their GEORGIOUS type 3s especially
the new late model wagon they're doing must have shown people the class of the type 3
had a women come up to me yesterday who owns a type 3 like mine telling me that the brits have started buying up out type 3s in bulk and that awesome
ones are 10k+ over there :o
Looks like i'll post my notchy for sale in the UK if they are stupid enough to pay that sort of money for them. My mate is selling his notch and got a couple of people from the UK ring him. But then again i do hate how they take our good dubs.
i have always like notches, i wouldnt mind one dumped on its arse with brms (replicas)
Anthony
almost bought a semi completed fastback before I came over here 3years ago, full cage, bonkers engine, all parts to put in 250ukp.
I've noticed that also. Type 3 appear to be the new fad.
I picked up a 66 squareback for $400 back in March. I reckon I'd pay 3-5 times that now.
Needs new floor pans and rubbers, outside paint is faded but the seats and interior and under the bonnet are like new. Came with all the original log
books, purchase certificate, accessories booklets and even a map of Adelaide where the car was purchased.
Engine runs like a dream 1600 twin, miles just over 100k but all original. Has all the extra trimmings like original pop outs etc
You just can't buy that kind of memorabilia you know and I got it all for a bargain price. The original grey folder that housed everything is so full
of original material I sat there all night reading all the history on the car.
Wish I could get this baby back on the road.
There's no way I'd sell this car to the UK even if they are stupid enough to pay outragous prices.
the trick is to drag the prices down again.
Tinman, i'll give you $5 for ya 66 square.
I sent my straight rust free '70 fastback to the crusher 2 yrs ago, nobody wanted it. Couldnt even sell the guards for $10 at the nataionals. I even had trouble giving them away.
So why will noone buy mine???/

Sorta anyway.

It could be down to price? Splittys are getting up there now days, type 3's can still be picked up for cheap.............Type3detectives, volkommen art etc aren't helping the cause though with all their low hot beasts!

Hope all this is true, bout time people started to not treat the T3 as a outsider. I think the early ones are dead sexy and glad to have one in my
shed.

Here's something you might enjoy...

uk seen has changed over last few year early busses split's and bay prices have gone through the roof and type 3s have been going up slowly ive had
my 66 type 3 for nearly twenty years slammed to the max but back then everyone wanted buges.Last year at bug jam i saw more type 3 than ever and t3
busses are becoming alot more popular.i was talking to a friend in germany how deals in fridolins the other week and that market has gone bonkers.i
think some peaple just follow the trends 10 years ago not may peaple wanted theys cars and now they see them as cool they are buying them from around
the world better dust off that old parts collection i think
You know to stop the poms from potching our VW we could ask the admins to ban any IP address from the UK.
Even if they didn't want to completely ban them they could set it so they couldn't see the "For Sale" section.
I've seen web sites in the US ban any IP outside the US. Not that I'm saying we'd be like the US but it would protect the land down under from
potches. If you wanted to sell your VW overseas you could always listed it overseas on a web site. If it's listed here then it should sell and stay
here.
Just a thought.
I hope type3's are the next splitty,
as I have a 65 square which I will sell one day, after I've had some with it.
I don't think we should stop anyone looking at this site, this is the world wide web?
Type3s will never be the next splittie- they're much better than that!! Have you ever jumped from a split into a type3???
They are chalk and cheese, a type3 actually goes and stops and doesn't fall over everytime a car passes in the other direction!!! They are actually
comfortable to ride in even when slammed and they can sit on 110 on the highway no worries, even in stock form.
Don't get me wrong, I love splits (got one of them too) but they are a totally different VW experience.
A good type3 is a piece of aircooled paradise!
Long may they stay under-rated!!!!
I have heard from a reliable source that there have been quite a few type 3's and 'shiploads' of type 3 bits leaving the country already. Prices will go up if they start going off shore like the early buses were 5 years ago...

GRRRR just makes me made when cars go overseas like that.
