The things you find in the Darwin outback
VWFREAK - July 17th, 2006 at 11:18 AM

He's a little beauty I found in Darwin a while back, she's beyond saving, but I decided she deserved a photo shoot anyway.

Here's a couple of pics. I also plan on going back to do a night shoot with coloured lights etc, should be interesting.

Don't under estimate those crazy pommies. They'd still pay a ridiculas price for it if you give them half the chance. Actually I'm suprised if Bone Collector hasn't already been contacted. :)

You notice those twin vents on the upper panel? What year model is that?

pete wood - July 17th, 2006 at 05:49 PM

that's for sure, I've seen a 36 ford truck shell in much worse condition than that, and it was getting restored into a rod, so you never know.

You could always take it home, weld up a few sections and have a really cool garden shed. Shame to let it go to waste. When all your pommie mates come over for a BBQ just tell them every Aussie has one for a shed cos we export the tin sheds to the poms along with Fosters Beer. love to see the looks on their faces then!

G'day,
More pics here from 12 months ago,

http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=45764

Its a '57-'58 panel, and the vents at top are standard on early panels to let air flow through.
I got what was left of the rear ribbed bumper.
The dash is so straight but thats about it.
Cheers, Ian.

Do you know what the original colour might have been or any idendification on the car?

A mate of mine at work had a split kombi that broke down near Darwin over 20 years ago. He left it on the side of the road to go and get help and when he came back it was gone....never seen again.
