blutopless2 - July 19th, 2006 at 05:54 PM

have done a search for this as i seem to recall someone posting that they had bought an electric fan heater that ran on 12volt from the car.

Anyone remember the details???

Thanks.

NEW ELECTRIC HEATER BOXES

These great little 12v Electric Heater Boxes are great for hot rods- tractors- and any other vehicles where under-dash space is limited. Mounting with an adjustable 2 bolt plate- and measure just 183mm x 113mm x 110mm- the will fit in the smallest of spaces. Wiring is also a breeze- with only 2 wires and a single fuse to connect. These hot little gems retail for $220

Give me the $220 and i will piss in yer pocket :D

Seriuosly - save yer pennies.

power = Volts x Amps

so V= P/A

If you are drawing 10 amps.... bugger it 16 amps ..... 12 x 16 = Fark me.... im boiling.... 192 WATTS!!!

Unless you can shove it down yer pants and warm yer cods - they will do bugger all.

:D

whilst mucking around with my semaphores i had the coils running at about 150Deg C after 3 minutes with only 4 amps running through them.... lol..

besides i only want something to take the chill out of the car for the mornings to valla.

Rod, once you get to Sydney it wont be a prob mate. I drove my old grey oval up to Valla a few years ago with no heaters at all, and then worst of the cold was from Gundagai to Sydney late at night. I am pratically heaterless in the Karmen too (bit too fumey) but not planning on still being on the road too late into the evening.
Plenty of clothes mate!!:tu:

guess i'll just have to rug up!

its still a cool thing even if it doesnt.

Yeah i posted that... I bought a 12v ceramic heater for $40 from JayCar... it was crap though... it blew my fuses... so i hardwired it to the battery with a bigger fuse and the wire got too hot to touch... but the heater still didnt seem to heat up, so i returned it and bought a scarf instead :D

Have you ever checked your heater boxes?
The flaps could be stuck!
The heater in my oval works perfect, it will even burn your foot:P
I have later engine with heater boxes just the same as whats in you car.

yeah the heater boxes are brand new... just gotta get round to getting the hosing and stuff... i am told coz its a late engine then the heater boxes have a different size outlet to the inlet pipe to the heater channels. then i gotta put the lever hardware onto the heater boxes (which i am not sure how it is meant to go as i have nothing to compare it to and no diagrams etc.) and then install a new control cable etc etc etc....

Yep I had this problem with my last 64 and looks like same again with this 64 that I have now. I went to the wreckers, there is a standard tube with big one end and small the other, I think that it was off a late 1300 or something, its been a couple of years since I bought it. Anyway a decent wrecker will know which one it is, go grab yerself a couple and enjoy your heating.
