Any one driven / own one of these.

A mate is looking at getting the wife a run round - found a 2000 model 4 door 50k Kms for $11k

Any idea on economy, parts, breakages etc etc??

from a resale point of view theyre not a very good choice, the car didnt do well and were going for 15g a few years ago. as for parts, anything honda is always a little more exspensive as compared to toyota etc.

I would pass on that one , get a subaru Liberty or a Rav4 , the Liberty would be of my selection

We had one Barry about 3 cars ago before we needed the people mover. Ours was ok because being a Honda you get good build quality, and it cruised ok - albeit pretty revvy, but it bounced a bit. Took it on many trips to Port Macquarie without any problems. That price and k's looks good - we sold our 4 door 3 years ago now for $15k, so the money seems ok too. It's basically a Civic but you sit up a bit higher, and it has some fangled all wheel drive system which we never felt it do anything. Stay away from the CVT and go the 5 speed.

Hi Barry,
My wife had a 99 HRV Sport for several years. She loved it. Typical Honda quality, although the doors were a bit tinny when slammed.
As squizy says, go for the 5 speed.
We only sold it to get her an MX5.

I had one also (2 door Sport though, not 4 door)...good car as a runabout, and pretty economical from memory. As with Honda's in general, mechanically bulletproof. Ditto on the opinions re: the 5 speed. Only sold it to put money towards the mortgage, not by choice.

The price and kms sound good, so if it checks out I'd go for it!

Good luck,

Steve
