Hey guyz,
Not vw but does anyone know how much i should be expecting to pay for a valve grind on my 125 4stroke trailbike head?

Went to a machinest, he said $100ish without seeing the head... sounds a bit over the top?

100 does sound a bit exxie just to lap valves.
Im suggesting hes going to cut both valve faces and seats and lap them and flycut the head face.

Why dont you ask a bike shop? they will quote you straight away.

Better stil, if you just want to do nothing more than simply lap the 2 valves itll cost you the price of a tube of grinding paste and a wooden grinding tool. Less that 15 bucks.
A valve lap should take less that 10 minutes per valve.

Yea, I took it down tonite, he recons $80. Needs to cut the valve seats aparantly. Wanted to put new seats in but i wasnt keen.

$80 is still exy, will ask a mate in the trade tomoro if he can sort it for me.

If the guy has to strip the head,
Check and replace the guides,
Cut the seats on the head,
cut the seats on the valve,
Cut the tip of the valve back so you still have adjustment,
And reassemble the head...then that is not bad.
Just the machining would be 10 dollars per item , thats about 40 plus gst.
Labour is a killer, thats why us tight arse VW blokes started doing everything our selves.
