ATTENTION Urgent help needed sunshine coast.
Anthiron - August 13th, 2006 at 12:16 AM

was driving along sugar bag road in caloundra tonite when my rear passenger side axle nut decided it would rather be free.

wheel and drum came off on a downhill corner.

managed to steer car to a stop at the bottom of the hill out of the way.

cant find the wheel or drum cause it was late nite.

my car is sitting, undrivable on the side of the road. going to look for the wheel at first light.

this is my only transport.

damage:

the axle thread is worn to uselessness, need a new axle, backing plate and brake shoes etc are ruined.

i am appealing to anyone who could possibly help me.

i have none of the parts i need with me at my house. though i have them at my fathers place at carters ridge. im going to try to get the car towed home tomorrow morning. i dont know how im going to get to work i hope there is a bus route near by.

i have less than $200 cash to my name at the moment untill my tax return comes back which wont happen for a week or so and then i have to wait for the cheque to clear.

if someone or some people could help me i would be eternally gratefull.

i dont even know how to change an axle.

i could re pay with money, beer etc. i really need help ASAP.

i dont have any days off work till tuesday which is my 6month anversary with my girlfreind and ive promised her a nice dinner:cry

anything appriciated.

thankyou
Nick

I have a 72 pan in my yard with the IRS rear end. You are welcome to take some bits of it for free if you want and it is the right model. Only problem is getting them up to you as I don't have the time to even take them off at the moment.

Let me know if you want them.

Sorry Nick, bad luck! All the crap I have in my garage is of no use to you. I have a spare gearbox now would you believe but no axles or brakes. I have a backing plate but it's for a later model (may fit I'm not sure). If you're going past drop in and have a dig around even if I'm not there.I'll be home on Wednesday and Thursday though if you're in the vicinity.

Hey, I have a spare wheel hub if you couldn't find yours. I live in Bli Bli which isn't too far from caloundra and I work in Sippy Downs.

I have an instructional video that explains how to replace the axels. If you want to borrow it, I'd be happy to help.

Send me a u2u if you need any help, I could even help you change the axels. (It;d be fun I rekon). I will give you my mobile if you need help.

Cheers

will send you a U2U right away i would love to see that video.

i should be going to get the parts i need from dads place tomorow morning (tuesday) and then aiming to change the axle on thursday (day off work).

Just get the car up HIGH so you can sit under/next to it to work on it. Make sure it is SAFE, you'll be right, it will all make sense when you take it apart...it's daunting thinking about it but easy when you're doing it so don't worry.:thumb

Anthiron - August 14th, 2006 at 11:08 PM

u just made me feel so much more relaxed about the procedure lol.

thanks mick

MickH - August 14th, 2006 at 11:11 PM

Pretend it's someone you absolutely hate when your taking it out and someone you love when you "stick it in"...that should make you more relaxed:duh I'm talking about the axle by the way.........dirty bugga....

doc5avage - August 15th, 2006 at 02:44 PM

Nick,

Can you post some pics of the proceedure, might help someone else in the future. And show us your destroyed axel.

Good luck

Anthiron - August 15th, 2006 at 02:48 PM
