Ok as the titled says i have bought a house and need to replace the garage doors.
They are you run of the mill rollar doors.
I was wanting to know if anyone knows how much a single rollar door costs?
I need to replace both of them and want to know if it will break the bank to replace them.
Here is a pic so you all have something to look at.
Lee.
I've seen 'seconds' or used ones for sale from around $300, new ones start from around $700.
Plus installation.
If you are handy with a spanner, and the existing tracks are in reasonable condition, you may be able to do it yourself.
Check you local paper for some local retailers and installers.
Shop around the local door dealers, they usualy have "shop soiled" doors real cheap. you will need to know the "opening size" before you go shopiong though. Measure the height from the floor to the top of the opening and then the width of the opening, you will also need to tell them what you are fixing to, brick, timber, then they will know what to provide as far as screw / bolts go. One last thing is they are not hard to fit, give it a go, if in doubt u2u me.
Fellas thanks for your help.
I will keep an eye out in the paper and have a look around the local dealers.
Lee.
If you intend to remove them yourself, when they are in the up, rolled position, put a large number of layers of duct tape around it at several
locations before you undo the shaft bolts from the retainers.
The springs that actuate the weight reduction are under extreme tension, and will do you a nasty injury if they let go.
Be very careful.
Congrats on buying the house Lee :thumb
What is wrong with the ones that are there?
If you replace them, get the auto bit, it is magic!

700's not a bad price but the 2200 is a bit steep, keep try'n, koolkarmakombi is spot on, go the auto.

1st, Congrats on the house, guess that means you must be posted soon
2nd, why the replacement option? whats the brand of door? can you retro a motor drive to them to make it easier to open etc? or are the doors screwed?
I had a 6.5m wide B&D electric door fitted for $1800 (Quotes ranged $1800 up to $5500 for the same door)
Shop around !!!!!

Best way to remove existing is to tape / tie up the curtain when all the way up then, while holding the roll from moving, remove the tracks and let the roll turn around (keep it under controll) till the tension is off the spring, don't bother using the old tracks the new doors will come with new ones,
Just got a call from the architect that my house plans are 98% done. Saturday will be the last chance to make any changes. 6 x 9m workshop area with
12' ceiling height + regular 6.7 x 6.5 double garage attached. 5.5 x 7m home cinema room, 7x6m snooker room with bar. The rest of the house belongs
to the wife and I couldnt care less. All figures that will no doubt totally impress starbug. I havent yet worked out how I am going to pay for it, but
that is secondary to requirements.
What I need is for someone to tell me how to use a 36horse to operate the garage door. Now that would be cool.
