Just wondered ... is anyone building a Cal Looker, or has the moment passed?
Realise that there are Cal Lookers about, but are these older restos now?
NEVER Dead,
Just love Resto cal-look, wouldn't do a DUB any other way.

damn, it's got sub-sets 'illustrate please' resto-cal verses regular-cal?
Deano, the 1970 bug I'm mid way through will be sorta cal-look although not really traditional. It has been dechromed, one piece windows, will have pretty much stock rear ride height and lowered front etc.
Let's not open the can of worms, what is Cal Look etc. Its just like define a rat, or what is a street car?
Generally.....
Resto Cal is more about the bling factor with accessories, lowered all round and the narrower front the better. Generally standard motors (brown car

Cal Look is more performance oriented, old skool is t-bars & one piece windows & no trim but these days Cal Lookers are being built with full bumpers
& trim. Always have been about big stroker motors with IDA's & lowered fronts with standard height rear suspension (green car pic 3)
Cal Look ain't dead, far from it. Check out the cal look forum http://www.cal-look.com
The Cal-look will live forever
What Stanley said
A well done cal, stock, German or rat will always be the schnitz!

Yep the Cal-look will be around for always. As will the Resto-Cal too. They are both the cleanest, easiest way to differentiate your dub.
Just look at the last VWMA mag at David O'Connors oval. Cal look will never die!
I think almost all builds including my own has taking something from the Callook scene.

The Cal Looker in the latest VWMA of Dave O'Connors really sums up the current cal look trend of low front, std height rear and big IDA motors. And LOTS of detailing. I'm blown away by this car every time I see it, just gotta get a ride one of these days...
Nice timing, G
