Who is the boss of "Aussieveedubbers"? I have an idea..
doc5avage - September 2nd, 2006 at 12:01 PM

Post your ideas for the site here. I tried to use the "contact us" feature, but noone replied.

I was thinking that it might be handy to have a "wiki" section were we can all create a volkswagen knowledge base with information about :

1. Chasis, engine, vin numbers
2. Original paint colors and their numbers
3. Available repair parts, stores
4. Available baja kits
5. Proceedures on some maintenece.

Could be handy and fun to build.

Wadda ya think?

bugeyedbabe - September 2nd, 2006 at 12:02 PM

just do a search in tech information....

dangerous - September 2nd, 2006 at 12:04 PM

Any of the moderators should be able to help you.
There are some of those style of popular articals as permanent fixtures
in the tech section and others I think.

Hey, thats not fun. You can't find all the vin/engine numbers there neway

bugeyedbabe - September 2nd, 2006 at 12:07 PM

what is it ur searching for??

doc5avage - September 2nd, 2006 at 12:10 PM

Not searching for anything, just thought it might be a good idea...
If you think its not though

bugeyedbabe - September 2nd, 2006 at 12:16 PM

not saying tis not...but they just catered for the popular things by having them as permanent sticky notes in tech section, so it sat on the front page. I am not sure its done since we went to new setup though. other than that...most of what people want can be found by doing a search.

and if all that fails...just ask...ppl are willing to answer the questions...or find a thrad thats already been done about it.

well...sometimes we are

i would like to see this sort of thing on here too.
especially these 3 things listed here by rob.

every other site that has these details all seem to be the US related details and they seem to vairy from our own

aussiebaja - September 2nd, 2006 at 05:59 PM

thats allright ,,,,,,,,,,,,,i've been after the password for the bad attitude section for about a month and no-one seems to be home

Baja Robert - September 2nd, 2006 at 06:40 PM

Thats the best idea ive heard in a long time. Talk to benettonVW. Im sure the wikipedia do free wiki hosting for anyones subject of choice, and even link to it via their own site, if search results warrant it. Would make an excellent knoledge pool, and written by people with real know how too. Well done.

doc5avage,

vanderaj, BuggyBrad or BenettonVW, would be the best ones to ask. They are both superadmins.
I think its a good idea, but it would depend on what features Andrew has included in the software (of that I'm not sure).
Actually I could bring it up and see what all the admin ppl think.

Please do, dodge.

Its a feature that I think would be valuable to the members and also fun for people to create (Gathering information).

ren - September 5th, 2006 at 04:27 PM

great idea, just like the tech info on the samba, but Australia specific.

bugluv - September 5th, 2006 at 05:05 PM

I think it sounds like a great idea...

amazeer - September 5th, 2006 at 08:16 PM

im against it until the current bugs are ironed out.

dodge - September 5th, 2006 at 10:35 PM

I guess that depends on which bugs you are referring to.....
and what you define as a bug ;)

bugeyedbabe - September 6th, 2006 at 12:24 AM

why is there a guy in my garage with an iron??

and Y is he saying edith needs ironing out??

:duh

amazeer - September 6th, 2006 at 09:12 AM

you silly.

When the forum lets me see attachments and send U2U's without having to swap between 3 different log ins, then that day we should think about adding something new.

Baja Wes - September 6th, 2006 at 10:02 AM

we have sticky threads at the top of the Tech mods and FAQ's, and also at the top of the engine conversion sub forums.

If someone wants to post a thread full of any of the info listed at the top of this thread then any of the mods can make it sticky.

The problem is someone has to write the info in the first place.

I put a lot of effort in the info in the conversion section. Check out the info/links/archive post or the jap engine specs post at the top of that sub-forum. :thumb

The problem with this method is that only one person can edit this one post.
A wiki is created by all members compiling all the information they know. Sure it would be possible for one person to gather all the information, but if everyone contributes the task is much much simpler.

With the info/links/archive post I made, everyone contributes. When their contributions gets to a certain point I just come along and move all their info into my original post, and delete their posts.

It is relatively easy to do. You may think a lot of people will contribute, but I have found only a handful actually do.
