air conditioning / climate control in my Baja!
Baja Wes - September 4th, 2006 at 01:34 PM
I figure not a lot of purists check out the engine conversions section, but I thought some still might be interested in this.

Yes, that's right. Fully automated digital climate control air conditioning in a 1968 VW Baja!

Well I can tell you now, when we went on a camping weekend to landcruiser mountain park and it was 42 degrees, the sweating involved took all of the
fun out of it :o
If I had the air con then, I would have been much happier

YOU...you keep going on about it....Wes..is it possible to buy just the climate control part of the harness or is it grafted as part of the main
harness (your Mazda V6 main harness)?I interpreted that it was part of the main harness in your description of the wireing...just curious as i know
other models (Mitsubishi/Volkswagen etc) have a seperate harness, therefore people wanting to do this type of conversion could source all the parts
from different models of cars from wreckers which should work out cheaper than the price of a 1/2 cut. I got all my stuff from a Magna Verada,2000
model for $600 from the wreckers, complete...just need to get the hoses made up and my arse into gear...or be lazy and just instal the under dash type
unit. I doubt climate control would work well in a Manx and i originally bought the Verada unit for the ute, which i no longer have. I assume you were
unable to get seperate harnesses for yours, but I'm just curious. :thumb:o

back to the topic...
My climate control harness was part of the main harness. I couldn't easily seperate them.
