Takhoal - September 11th, 2006 at 12:31 PM

true man, need more ppl like steve.

I was doing my run this morning in that nice storm that was blowing and found 3 injured birds and a wicked stunned frilly. Got one bird into hospital but was too far into run to hook back when I picked up the others. Stopped off home and put them into cage in garage to take back when I get a chance. Went back this morning just earlier after going to 3 different places before finding a vet that would take care of them. @ just flat out refused to take them. Hope I dont see them stuck on the side of the road one day.

Life shouldnt always be about $$ and that is one thing steve was good at proving, he was himself, didnt have to sell out and still, that made him worth far more than anyone would have imagined.:tu:

Yes "H" I'm suporting Brendan on this. I'm trying to keep the ball running as I'm keen to make this convoy day happen. Looks like Oct/Nov at this stage.

also we could meet at Boondall Entertainment centre carpark (same spot used for Dubs By The Pub)...only a suggestion

Judy - the 11th November (Rememberance Day) is perfect. I only have one question about our meeting place, do we have to notify anyone @ Boondall or can we just rock up?

I'm really happy to go with this plan. It gives everyone enough time to organise. I think someone just has to say "This is happening on what ever date, meet at where ever" otherwise it appears that we will just be hovering on this topic.

:tu:I SAY YES TO NOV 11TH
MEET AT BOONDALL CAR PARK (same spot as Dubs at the Pub)
MEETING TIME 9AM
TO HONOUR AND REMEMBER THE GREAT, STEVE IRWIN.

DoNkEy - September 12th, 2006 at 04:38 PM

just a note about the Gold coast show...cut and paste from their thread in events...dif date :)

"27th November - Gold Coast Dub Club Show and Swap
Our annual Show and Swap is on the 27th November.
Please note, We have moved the date back to accommodate the full use of the Facilities
If you have any ideas or suggestions on how we can make our show better please feel free to contact Ross on Ph: Mob: 0419654565AH: (07) 55737032
If you have an idea for a club run or would like to go somewhere with people who share the same interest please phone Ross on (07) 55737032 or email suggestions to gc_dubclub@yahoo.com.au"

ByronBug - September 12th, 2006 at 04:57 PM

I think the change of date was last years.
Flyers were given to us at Action Day on the weekend which advertised the 5th?
Will check this out...
Just checked out the Gold Coast Dub Clubs Website,
their show is advertised as the 5th...
So all is good the the 11th for the cruise
Judy

:no:Hay BOB long time no hear and see, hope things are going well. Mum and i saw PATRICK at the VW Action Day, it was good to see him again. I owe Pat a huge thanks because he made mum's mind up to go get that Kombi and I'm happy to say we now have our 75 Bay "ABBY" currently she's DAGGY ABBY, but she will be going through some major transformations over the coming months. So now we have 2 Dubs at our house - Yippy.

As for the Steve Irwin cruise YES it's still on the 11th Nov 9am @ Boondall.

HOWEVER can someone let me know if we just rock up at Boondall or do we have to obtain permission.

Can't wait to see everyone soon.

MISS VDUB - October 9th, 2006 at 09:33 PM

Hopefully you can manage to get a good turn out, sounds like it could be a nice day!

Ash x

ByronBug - October 9th, 2006 at 11:40 PM

:sandrine
yep I am still coming
From what i hear you don't need permission to park in
their carpark.
Even if its locked there are the streets leading into the carpark that people can still park in that are ok.
Take the signed Boondall Entertainment Centre turnoff on the highway
If you use that side of the carpark closest to the highway, its then easier for all to get off & back on it.
Same place we park to meet for Dubs By The Pub

Wag67 - October 10th, 2006 at 05:36 AM

Just a point, you may want to let the zoo know that you are cruising up there and roughly how many as they will reserve a carpark area for you. The suby club was up there about 2 weeks ago and they managed to get the front carpark. they may also offer you a group discount to get into the zoo. Ring 5436 2000 and ask for Maketing/groups

:thumb GREAT, how about I look into this THIS WEEK. So can I please get an estimate of how many are planning to attend. I will see if we can get the final numbers on the day when we meet at Boondal and ring them through to Australia Zoo of that morning before we leave.

Actually JUDY you might be able to advise, should I really be bold and do up a flier and hand some out at the Gold Coast show? or would this be percieved as getting to big and slightly out of hand???? TELL ME WHATS YOUR THOUGHT "ALL DUBBERS"

:sandrineRACKIE

ByronBug - October 10th, 2006 at 06:21 PM

:sandrine
Rackie,
flyers given out are a great idea ( I did that too when advertising vw events) as not every vw owner has access to a this forum/computer & would like to go to this, especially families with kids.
Ring the park about a week before & let them know we are coming. Give them plenty of notice
Also pass the word around to other vw people in other vw clubs....more the merrier

Fern ButterBug - October 11th, 2006 at 10:04 AM

 Thanks for that TAZZ and I will work on a flier today. One thing I'm worried about is if we get a huge amount of interest organising cars to go in convoy having minimal impact on regular traffic. Can someone tell me what we would have to do as I've never really organised convoys as such with large volumes of people...

:sandrine RACKIE

Fern ButterBug - October 11th, 2006 at 01:51 PM

:tu:Hi everyone - I have completed the FLIER for this run as we speak. I've called Australia Zoo and you could say I'll nominate myself as the co-ordinator. I am dealing with a lovely person from Marketing at Australia Zoo so touch wood everything should go well.

I'm wanting to post/attach the flier to this site, but I just cant figure this one out. So if you could all stay tuned until the Gold Coast show, where I'll have heaps of copies and will be passing the word around. I could email this to someone prehaps and they could attach it to this topic.....

KATHY thanks for taking this to your meeting "Klub VW Bayside"

The wheels are in motion, can't wait.
