Heard, heard, heard

"Someone said"
"I heard"
"I read once"
"People say"

I get so sick of these f'n things being said. It is always 'specialist' wanna be's that have no idea and are just repeating crap pub talk. I would rather bet on Tatts numbers than believe the crud some people repeat.

Schmoburger - October 14th, 2006 at 07:04 PM

I read once that people say i heard that someone said that those smartass google-mechanics are shithaus.... but thats just heresay! :lol:

shaihulud - October 14th, 2006 at 07:21 PM

That's why hearsay evidence is inadmissable in a court of law, (except in some circumstances in a coroner's court during an inquest).

Matt Ryan - October 14th, 2006 at 09:44 PM

Surely, we should all take everything with a grain of salt and only believe (as somewhere near truth) a combination of what is presented and the learning and research we have done as an individual.

{Maybe a good motto for AVD}

Matt.

Matt Ryan - October 14th, 2006 at 09:53 PM

Must credit the above to a very astute history teacher I had in an adult learning situation,

Basically her argument was " believe no one, find out as much information as you can, from as many different sources as you can, and then come to your own conclusions."

Sound advice in my book. {but you should check etc.}

Matt.

Schmoburger - October 14th, 2006 at 09:55 PM

Occasionally I get out the 914 can of worms and either tell these type of blokes that my Kombi has a Porsche engine, or give it to em straight and explain that the Porsche has a Kombi engine, not the other way round heheh... just depends upon whether or not I feel like causing trouble! :smilegrin:

You should see some of em turn green with envy, cos half the time they don't have the foggiest idea what the 914 even is... they just figure porsche=holyshitthatsfastandfancy... never realising that it performs scarcely better than an Excel! :lol:
