wow,.. thats a shame
Shit. Do we know who it was yet? Bugger.
Condolences to the families involved.
It's been a dark year for motorsport in Oz.

no good.. :o
here is a pic of the beetle on their homepage..
anyone know it..
Yep - It's rocked the town.
That happened about 8 k's from where I live. 5 in a straight line on the other side of the river. Obviously I live in Dubbo.
I was just cruising down the main street with a mate taking him for a ride as I scored rego today and we were talking about it. I felt sort of
heartless when I saw all the rally cars parked down the main street and here's me driving through in a sharkskin grey Baja after an enterant was
killed hours earlier. Thought it best I drop my mate home and call it a night myself.
Bronze.
Any more news on this?
Is sad, wouldnt be suprised if it was someone on here or connected to here

It actually looks like the bug from near Maitland. As I go through Maitland I see it parked on the main drag outside some shops. Could be any number
of ladybug beatles getting around but that's the last one I have seen with a light on the roof.
B.
Damn.
It's terrible regardless of who it was or what car, but the fact it's a fellow dubber makes it that much worse. :cry
I really do hope this is the end of all the carnage...
BUGGER!!
Yes - they posted here a year or so ago??
Had a few things on the build up.

Is that the Beetle that recently competed in a Bash to Darwin or Kakadu or thereabouts? It had two women in the team. From memory it was orange and had spots or flowers on it.

was in the sydney telegraph yesterday. her husband was driving and she was navigating. what I don't get is how she died. looks like a textbook crash
but the car doesn't look that bad. it had a roll cage and everything in it. the husband broke his legs I think.
condolenses to the family. :cry
yeah i thought that too pete. crash doesnt look overly bad..
internal injuries from harnesses maybe
heart attack?
who knows, either way its sad.
Oh man, that is terrible. We saw them take off from here in Shepparton, as it was where they started this thing. I remember saying to Kate, "Oh look a Beetle!". Although I didn't know these people, I am sickened by this sad occassion.
Hi
That is very sad, I think Vintage VeeDub did work on it.
Steve
Awful.
I'm surprised that was a fatal.

as sad as it is, I'm not surprised it was a fatal. Umm... Beetles have a very short head-to-dash distance...
It is with regret that I inform you of the injuries sustained by Ian carter from Bathurst as well as the death of his wife. I have spoken to the project manager of Carter Bros Engineering in bathurst to confirm the following details .....Ian and his wife had been competing in a charity rally from vic-sa-nsw as they had been for years . At the finish of the rally outside the city of Dubbo in northwest nsw , they were returning to town just after a rare storm and on the wet road hit the only pole on the road . Ian is in Royal north shore hospital with a number of serious injuries including a broken back , neck , seven ribs and a lot of internal injuries , His wife unfortunatley was not as lucky and died on impact . They were both strapped into their seats when found . The bug is a 76 model with a 1776cc engine and this was its first outting after the engine had the new ported heads fitted . Ian was so happy with an extra 28 hp @ the wheels and couldn't belive the performance . My thoughts are now with Ian and the rest of the family for a full recovery . It is likely to be a long stay in Sydney however . ROD.
maybe there is something we could do to help the family?
